Do you ladies like the "athletic" type of guys that are into sports, not just participating but watching as well? The reason I ask, is that you see some girls with guys who are small, you have to wonder how they would protect their girl. I am just curious if that matters at all if they are big and strong.

Thank you

I am 5'8" so I like a man that is taller than me. I like to feel protected, but I don't like men who are too big (muscular). A man who can pick me up and.....ok well, I guess I can't say that here, but you get the picture! lol

I think there needs to be a happy medium. Some guys are sooooo into sports that nothing else takes priority! That is too much!! I love hanging out watching football, but I also want a man who is willing to turn off the TV and focus all of his attention on me when necessary!

Well, lots of women don't feel that they need to be protected. It is called independence. Secondly, guys don't really have to be big to have skills (I am gonna leave that alone.) Personally, my boyfriend is athleticly built and in excellent shape (he is a Marine) but it actually makes me happy that he is not a sports nut, because I am not a sports fan and it is a benifit that I don'thave to get out and watch games and see them on the Tv all the time. I would just assume go for a run with my boyfriend to playing baseball with him.

I prefer a big strong man. Im 21, 5'1 and only weigh 105. My boyfriend is very athletic, a very mean fighter, sexy ripped body but at the same time hes a giant teddy bear. I feel so safe going out with him to parties and such. My brother is a pretty strong athletic guy and a very mean fighter also and is afraid of my guy. I love it, it makes him so much hotter. My bf would drop a guy so fast if he messed with me.

It does not really matter. They dont have to be huge, muscular guys to kick ***. Usually, ladies do want to feel protected and safe but you dont need a guy who works out 24/7 for that. He can have a small frame and still be able to protect his girl. It's not only size that matters!!!

It goes back to the animal world, women instinctively go for the alpha male, strong (can protect her offspring) and now days , Money, can provide food and security. Thats what women go for on first sight, but if a guy can sneak his personality in there, that always wins... Looks only go so far in the long run, but personalities are for ever.
Hope this helps,

My last b/f was 5'9" and about 155 lbs. he didn't seem very big defensively and I always seemed to open my big mouth for him. He was the "quiet" type where I was the one standing up for him. At that point I was 5'7" 125 lbs. I am still 5'7" but weigh a little more, like 140lbs. (I got lazy)
My husband is about 6' tall and 280 lbs. I feel as if he would drop a bear for me. I have my moments when he gets mad that I feel unsafe because of his size but that is my own insecurities. I don't think I have to open my mouth and stand up for him as much as I did for the ex.
Make sense?

I don't think it matters as much as guys think it should. I may not like men but when I did have boyfriends I was the strong one and I think that some girls just want a guys they love, even if that means they're the ones with the "pants".

What? There's lions and tigers out there we need to be protected from? Where?

I'm not much on getting into fights, so other than wild animals, I'm guessing Joe Jock really isn't a requirement. If there's wild animals (two or four legged), I prefer to make sure I'm able to take care of myself.

I personally love sports and its hard to find a guy that likes that about a girl. I know you hear it all the time that they want us to have more in common, but they freak if we know just a little too much about football or baseball.

I like guys who sit and watch. I mean, I don't want a big, unhealthy guy...but an athletic guy isn't everything. Plus, more women will look at him and make the girlfriend jealous/mad.
