Sounds like you got some kind of nerve thing going on, possibly starting in your neck area. Have you ever injured your neck? I would go to a neurologist, they specialize in nerve stuff.

Your are describing a paresthesia, nerve pain. This can be from poor circulation or direct nerve impingment. A normal person can have this if they lay on their arm wrong. For many its arthritis in the nech or a pinched nerve in the neck. In any event you should be more concerned about the cause then masking it with pain killers.
You need to see your doc to let them do a physical exam.

You may have a neuropathy (nerve damage). Do you have diabetes or had a neck or back injury? Sometimes sleep positions may cause a little numbness in hands, etc. but this sounds more serious. Age could be a factor and also history of family illness/disease. See a Dr. soon.

This sort of problem always makes me wonder how many pillows one uses when sleeping..If rolling up a towel and placing it under your neck does not relieve this problem, perhaps it is time to get some outside help.. A chiropractor is best equipped to handle this type of problem.

It sure sounds like a neurological issue, ie., carpal tunnel or maybe a rheumatogical problem, such as fibromyalgia.

You won't know for certain until you see a doctor.
