You are considered Southern if you are born South of the Mason-Dixon line. Do you know what that is? it is the geographically surveyed point (between Pennsylvania and Delaware, I believe) that seperates Northern and Southern states. It is an imaginary line.
Kentucky is below the Mason-Dixon line, as is - obviously - Tennessee - so, both of your parents were born in "Dixie" (Look away).
Dixie
O' I wish I was in the land of cotton,
old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
In Dixie land where I was born in, early on a frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
Chorus:
O' I wish I was in Dixie, hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie land I'll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie,
Away, away, away down south in Dixie.
Old Missus marry Will de Weaber, Will-yum was a gay deceaber,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
But when he put his arm around her,
smiled as fierce as a forty pounder.
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land. (Chorus)
Dars buckwheat cakes an' ingen batter, makes you fat or a little fatter,
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.
Den hoe it down and scratch your grabble to Dixie's land
I'm bound to travel,
Look away, look away, look away Dixie land. (Chorus)

You ask like there is something wrong with being southern. LOL. I think Tennesse is for sure. It's the home of country music.

Howdy! (lol)...I live in Kentucky myself, about 30 minutes away from the TN border....both states are very southern in culture.....Kentucky is home to allot of what is considered southern industries and southern things (fried chicken! I live in Colonel Sanders back yard to tell you the truth) and TN is the home of country music!

You are indeed a Southern Belle my dear!
I myself have a hard time with people calling me "yankee" because I'm from Maryland. But last time I checked Maryland was SOUTH of the Mason Dixon line.
