i can only guess that the veil was to hide the bride until the ceremony was over so that when the groom looked on her , it was looking at her for the first time as a new person ... with a new perception of her
seems very symbolic to me
but i am sure there is a better reason though and hopefully someone will find it for you xx

I think it was suppose to protect the bride from evil spirits on her wedding day. So she would be blessed with a good marriage and healthy sons. Its a very old tradition all the way back to the pagans. All the wedding traditions have been handed down and transformed to what it is today. The ring finger came from the Romans. They believed that finger vein lead to the heart.

Spiritual meaning: When you regain Christ Consciousness, at the Wedding with Christ He lifts the veil (it is already very thin, He already can see your face) of illusion (of the devil, the world we live in) and shows you the truth, that there is only Love//And yes wearing white stands for virgin or clean meaning you have washed all the stain of the sin and your heart is now clean..

Wedding veils are biblical in origin. They go back to Isaac, who married Leah instead of Rachel because he couldn't see her face through the veil.

it's a tradition for the bride not to see the bridegroom until the wedding ceremony.

It stands for being a virgin or not, with a veil you're a virgin, without one, you're a whore.
