If you don't eat, your body will actually STORE fat because it thinks you're starving. Eating salads and veggies is a start, but cutting the fats & oils will give you results.

You cannot loose weight effectively just by eating salad 24/7. What is considered a 'healthy' diet consists of the right amount of each food group. Going days without protein, lactose, fiber etc. can really mess up your digestive tract. Vegetables can only give you so much, the rest are made up by the other foods.
Now, when you say, "eat less," I hope you don't mean, 'on the brink of starvation.' Portions are very important, but there's a point to draw the line at.
Exercise! You cannot loose any weight without lifting a finger, DESPITE WHAT THE COMMERCIALS SAY! Again, the line is drawn when you start feeling light-headed. @ . @ When you exercise, your brain lets off endorphines, which make you happy. So, the more you exercise and the more you body grows use to the daily routine, the happier you'll be while doing it!
Here's a tip! I heard you burn more calories if you walk two stairs at a time! (^_^)

If you starve your body like skipping meals or not eating recommended portions in a balanced meal, your body sends a signal that there is not enough nutrition coming in to stay healthy, so it literally tells your body to STORE the fat rather than burning it. Eventually, if you are really malnourished for long enough, you will start burning fat, but only after you have burned muscle tissue..... Ewww! So NO starving yourself, OK?
Instead, never skip a meal, just eat reasonable portions and small healthy snacks. You'd be surprised at how small the recommended serving portions are. Eat a balanced diet with protein, carbs and lots of fresh fruit and veggies. Drink 5 to 8 cups of water a day. Take a good multivitamin. Avoid anything with High fructose corn syrup as it blocks your body from telling your brain when it is full. So no sodas! Also, avoid fried foods and food with hydrogenated oil. These are in a LOT of foods and drinks. Don't eat any large portions or anything with a lot of sugar right before bed. Your stomach should be mostly empty for the last 2 hours of your day since your body won't have enough movement to burn the fuel and it will all turn to fat. Try a glass of milk or a banana since they both help you sleep.
Remember that if you are going to exercises, you will need to give your body the healthy fuel it needs, so don't starve yourself. Also, more frequent, smaller amounts of exercising is best if you can. Remember to stretch, both before and after running, and I recommend every day. It stimulates your lymph system and will help your body get rid of unwanted materials like toxins and fat.

I'd suggest that you cut out refine sugar. That stuff is in alot of foods these days. Cut back if not out the junk food. Eat all the good stuff and just try to be more active each day. Like moving furniture around when you clean. Break a sweat even a little will help. I know when I cut out sugar and move even a little abit I lose weight. Also, go for a pound or two each week.

If you cut 500 calories from your diet and jog only a 1/2 hour a day you will lose weight. About 2 pounds a week. It is a good healthy way to lose weight. I wouldnt just put all my excerise in one day. It is better to break it up. That is what my doctor told me after I had my baby.
Your body will burn the fat gradually. Don't eat only veggies. Your body needs a balanced diet of all the food groups. If you starve yourself or deprive yourself your body will go into starvation mode and it will convert everything you eat into fat. You need to eat more small meals to keep your metabolism up.

Your body burns fat after you excercise for 20-40 minutes, depending on the intensity, and on your metabolism/genetics. Eating less helps you not to gain back what you burn off from excercise. Eating more fiber helps you lose weight also. Don't worry so much about cutting fat. It's the processed flour and sugar that makes you gain weight. If you cut back on junk food and eat more veggies and lean meat you will do much better. The excercise is what burns the fat, though, so focus mainly on that.

The bottom line is as long as you are burning more calories than you are consuming, you will lose weight.
If you aren't taking in enough calories, your body will convert the stored fat energy into energy you can use, meaning that you will lose weight.
One pound of fat equals 3500 calories, so if you're buring 2500 calories a day and taking in 2000, it would take you 7 days to lose one pound.
