You can't participate partially in Halloween. You are still taking part of a holiday that celebrates evil. It's like being lukewarm as the Bible states. You can't serve 2 masters. When you participate in Halloween you are participating in the whole concept. You are doing exactly what Satan wants you too. He deceives us ... making us think that it's ok.

You can try to stay away from the dark side but the dark side finds it's way to you all the time if you just let it peek in just a little. Think about it.

If Halloween is just about eating candy and partying then tell me why all the horror and monsters, goblins, evil-looking customes? Why is it that people enjoy the horror of such a "non-evil" holiday? Why has our world become so deceived? Why do Christians believe that they can honestly worship and serve God and then celebrate Halloween (All Hallow's Eve) which clearly honors a demonic being or beings?

----- Snow&Skateboard you asked for our opinions. Why are you so hostile? I mean you came here obviously feeling convicted on your thoughts. We are sharing our opinions. I am not trying to sway you to change your mind. MY OPINION> you have every God given right to choose what you want to do. Now, in the end we will all know the right and wrong answers. For now, it's all on you. -----

If Halloween was so innocent, why would you like to be scared out of your mind ... what's "cool" about being scared by evil or demons? Why the use of HORROR, if Halloween is not about evil? People get real. Stop lying to yourselves.

*** You all can thumb down me all you want ... but you all are calling yourselves Christians ... but could you all honestly answer this: "Would Jesus celebrate Satan and demons, monsters, and witches, or evil spirits?" ANSWER THIS YOURSELVES, HONESTLY. Think about.

If Halloween isn't a celebration of evil then why all the horror, the fright, the evil customes, the horror movies, the "scary sounds"? Come on somebody. Please be real.

I actually don't celebrate "holidays". Everyday is a blessing and a day to celebrate life and liberty in Jesus.

I have answered a similar question earlier. On those days, I either hand out candy with gospel tracts for kids, or bracelets that say Jesus loves you. This year my husband and I are throwing a party for the kids in our complex. They are going to hear the gospel and have the opportunity to accept Christ. You can still glorify God on this day. I don't worship Satan or honor him on this day or any other. Be salt and light on a day that you consider dark.

Remember the Pharisees, which were considered the elite of religious people told Christ He was sinning on the Sabbath when He healed people. A day that was supposed to be obeyed no matter what, and yet Christ still healed. He saw the bigger purpose, of healing someone and making their spirit whole.

Let's look at the big picture: A lot of Christians have serious spiritual concerns about Halloween. But if we're telling people that Halloween is evil without offering any alternatives to traditional Halloween activities that night, how many of them are just going to stay home? Probably not many. The much better alternative is that there are a lot of churches and other groups that are offering activities on Oct. 31 that have nothing to do with Halloween, but that just happen to occur that night. If you invite your friends or neighbors or whoever to something like this, it just might open the doors for them to start asking more questions about what it means to be a Christian. That would be much better than just putting down Halloween and having the conversation end right there. Check out the first link below for ideas people have e-mailed to me.

Halloween was started as all hallows eve by Pope Gregory in an attempt to cover up yet another Pagan Holiday. it IS a CHRISTIAN holiday. Hollywood and the media have made it into a holiday that focuses on the scary costumes.

Samhien is the Pagan holiday and is regarded by some as the new year, and is a time to remember our ancestors and to renew protections and to celebrate the end of the harvest season. to thank the gods for a good year.

My church has a nice Halloween carnival every year, in which a lot of money is raised for charity. Helping the poor is something that Christ would doubtless urge us to do. Not all Christians believe as you do. There are many people in the world with differering opinions, and many of them are contained within your own faith group. If the holiday were ever about "evil", it certainly isn't now, and giving a lollipop to a little girl wearing a funny mask isn't something that I see as being offensive to God. Just because I'm Christian doesn't mean that I want to go around taking all the joy out of life. Halloween is fun, and I celebrate it annually with my fellow parishioners, and with others, as well.

I understand that as a fundamental christian you probably everything pagan is inherently evil. However what pagans like myself will actually will be doing tomorrow night couldn't be further from it, but also it has absolutely nothing to do with what children are up to when trick or treating. Trick or treating is a cultural tradition and has little to do with religion, it is more linked with folk tradition, but so are christmas trees and easter eggs. Also the imagery associated with halloween has nothing to do with paganism. real witches do NOT wear pointy hat, Most of these symbols have cultural associations with either death or the supernatural (most of which is tied to christian mythology). I suggest you read your bible Romans 14:22 'So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God' It is harmless so let people enjoy themselves, you don't have to join in, but you should not condemn others for doing so.

Wow you are ignorant, you do realize that most of the holidays that christians celebrate are paganistic, so does that mean that all christians are celebrating evil holidays? Halloween is also a pagan holiday. Halloween is NOT evil. It is a fun time, to bring creativity and laughter out in your children, to enjoy time with family....I just can't understand the ignorance and hate towards a holiday that does not worship ANY DEMONS OR DEVILS. Stop demonizing everything that you think is evil because of old wives tales or what you see in the media.

If you are not trying to offend anyone, then why even put it into that context?

Halloween has nothing to do with its origins; it's what it is NOW. The arguments against Halloween are like the pagan arguments against Christmas: they both miss the point on the meaning it has NOW to the practicioners. The early church intentionally adopted pagan rituals and reinterpreted to get across the message of Christianity (e.g. winter solstice/christmas). The ONLY meaning Halloween and Christmas and anything else has is what is in the mind of the person who celebrates it. That's it.

It's not about evil, hon. It's about looking death in the face, and even putting on its shoes and walking around in it, so that it loses its power to scare you.

What you resist persists. What you look at directly disappears.

It's about taking the darkness and bringing it to light. When you understand a thing it has no power over you. Are you really sure Jesus would disapprove of this concept?

Celebrating death and walking away from it is about hope of life after death, about continuance, about not letting your fears control you. This is a very healthy thing to do regardless of your faith.

You're absolutely right. Please do not celebrate Halloween. Don't let your kids celebrate it either. Keep them home. Don't let them see all the other kids (with satanic parents) who get to go trick or treating. Best not to even let them have any candy or apples on the 31st.

Shoot, perhaps you'd better not let them out of the house, ever. That might be best for all concerned!

And note to self: RSVP with a big fat NO if I get an invite to Cinderella's party. Oy vey!

But nobody takes it seriously. They probably couldn't even tell you what it means, or what follows it on November 1st.

It's like Guy Fawkes night in Britain. It doesn't mean we want to burn catholics at the stake any more. It's just a bit of fun, and the chance for a party.
