Q. 29. What are the punishments of sin in the world to come?
A. The punishments of sin in the world to come, are everlasting separation from the comfortable presence of God, and most grievous torments in soul and body, without intermission, in hell-fire forever.

Q. 30. Doth God leave all mankind to perish in the estate of sin and misery?
A. God doth not leave all men to perish in the estate of sin and misery, into which they fell by the breach of the first covenant, commonly called the covenant of works; but of his mere love and mercy delivereth his elect out of it, and bringeth them into an estate of salvation by the second covenant, commonly called the covenant of grace.

JW's are not a cult. A cult is a religion that emphasizes devotion according to prescribed ritual and often live in groups apart from the rest of society. JW's are neither. They do not follow a man, but the Bible. They also do not believe in a burning hell. The Hebrew word she'ohl and Greek hai'des mean 'the grave.' Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all, and that there is no knowledge in Sheol. If they are conscious of nothing, then they feel no pain. A perfect example is Job, who when going through many trials, prayed to go to She'ol. (Job 14:13) Besides, the Bible says that 'God is love,' not a God who would torment people.

As far as the 144,000 only being virgin male Jews--I assume you're referring to Revelation 7:4-8--these cannot be the tribes of natural Israel because there never was a tribe of Joseph, the tribes of Ephraim and Dan are not included in the list, an the Levites were set aside for service in connection with the temple but were not reckoned as one of the 12 tribes.

And yes, Jehovah's Witnesses believe the entire Bible.

Jehovah's Witnesses DON'T believe that only 144,000 will be saved, but that only 144,000 will go to heaven. Revelation 7 also talks about a 'great crowd.' God's purpose to have mankind live in a paradise on earth did not change when Adam and Eve sinned. That is still his purpose. Psalm 37:29 says that, "the righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."

Yes, on the whole everyone is under a deception when they start believing one thing or another just because the most persuasive proseletizer says so.
If you want to find out a bit how Christian doctrine started being manufactured find out about the conferences at Nicea.
I expect you'll be busy, and rewarded wondering about "all religions and the truth"

I believe that yours is a very serious question and one that I have been struggling with for years.

The fact is... Jesus himself refers to Hell as a place of torment... but in those references, Jesus is speaking in Parables or using descriptive terms for that era. Like "Gehenna" a trash dump in Jerusalem know for it's constant fires.

Equally confusing are the verses in Ecclesiastes where it is said that in death there is no labor or toil, in that day (his) thoughts perish and (he ) returns to the dust from which he came.

Ecclesiastes however is known as a book written about man and his existence "under the sun" or without God. So....

Neither are definative... and while not completely contradictory, they are confusing. Throw in a little Revelations 20 with the grave being consumed in the lake of fire... and you have a scriptural enigma that we may only find the answer to after death... one way or the other.

Either way, one thing is certain... God is the creator of all that is good and Hell definately IS total separation from God. I do not want to miss out on an opportunity to spend eternity WITH God.

JW's and born agains don't really have much in common at all. JW's do believe that they're the only ones who'll go to heaven, but they also falsly believe they're the 144,000, which is ludicrous considering the bible tells us quite specifically that the 144,000 are all virgin male jews, 12,000 each from each of the 12 tribes. Some how their "prophet", the weird one who kept giving them false end time dates, twisted that scripture up for them, so they believe it. They do not have anything in common with born agains, who generally don't think any one denomination is the only one going to heaven. But then of course, they're are whacko's in every group, so I'm sure that some do believe that. Denomination isn't gonna save anyone, only Jesus will do that, and He doesn't seem like the denominational type to me.

They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. matthew 13:42 (thats hell...we're guessing weeping and gnashing of teeth is a bad thing)

um, christianity isn't really a religion so much as a relationship. some christians get caught up in the rules and punishments and they don't really see the purpose of christianity is life fulfillment. the only thing you need to do to go to heaven is believe in god, jesus, and the bible...other people will say you gotta do all this crazy stuff that is really quite difficult, and atheists will say you don't have to do anything

There are many deceptions. That is why one needs the Spirit of Truth that leads into all truth. Not than any one teach us, but the anointing we have received teaches us and does not lie (2 John).

Jesus said that to see the Kingdom of God you must be born again. That means spiritual rebirth. When we rebel purposely against God (like first Adam), we die spiritually. We must be reborn spiritually. God gives the Holy Spirit to all His Children. It is with us and shall be in us. All who have been born of God.

Religion doesn't save anybody. Confessing Jesus Christ as Lord and believing in ones heart the atonement (Jesus shed blood for remission of sins.) and resurrection (Victory over death for every one of us.) does. That is how spiritual rebirth happens. By Faith. Faith in Jesus Christ.

Hell is made for the devil and his angels / messengers.

Those that go to heaven are those redeemed by the blood of the lamb. Because to go to heaven all sins have to be atoned for. Because God is a Holy God. Even one sin will keep you out of heaven.

Jehovah Witnesses don't believe the bible completely, so that is why they are in error.

You can tell who is deceived because their religion contradicts with the message of Grace in the bible. What happens when we get born again, reborn spiritually, we put on Christ Righteousness, His Shed Blood. When God sees us, God sees the righteousness of His Son. That is what gets us to heaven. Not works. I don't go to church to make myself righteous. I go to church because I am made in the righteousness of Christ. I already am saved (inherit everlasting life).

It's not about belonging to a religion, it's all about loving God. Hell is anywhere there isn't God, which means that there will be no goodness in hell just bad stuff like pain and sadness. So if you don't love him and want to be with him then yeah you will go to hell a.k.a place where God isn't.

Look at what the Bible says: Do Jehovah Witnesses abide by the Word of God? They may take parts of it, and lure people into their cult with parts of it- but their false doctrine is like a sweater with a loose thread....and its going to fall apart in the end. They have many different beliefs than what the Bible actually says. Too many to post on here. They profess to know Jesus Christ- and they profess to believe what the Bible says- but look at ALL of what they believe- is it what the Bible says? It is crucial to have the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, one is not saved. But many are being led astray just as the Bible warns us:Paul says to those concerning this matter:

2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

--You must KNOW what the Bible says- Not just accept parts of it, and build our own relegion- but trust and believe in God and rely on HIS spirit to teach you. I believe the Bible to be infallable- the sole word of God. It warns us not to take away from it, or add to it:

Deuteronomy 12:32
See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

Revelation 22:18
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.

I used to have a really good website that defines a "cult" I will have to look for it again. And yes JW's do believe that 144,000 of them will be saved and that they are the 144,00- Look at Revelation, it is CLEARLY not them. What I find funny is that they are trying to convert everyone to their relegion, but only 144,00 will be saved according to them....Revelation 7:4
Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
--From all tribes of Israel--
