Hey guys...
I hate feeling left out going out with friends and NOT drinking because of my reactions to alcohol.
I get red and bloaty, mini-hives on my face (which disappears within couple hrs) and a small hay fever.
I've seen other 'alcohol allergy' questions/answers...
But i want to know the PREVENTIONS by eating/drinking something before hand.
(Rumors i've heard was by ingesting pepcid ac, pepto bismol, alka setzer.)
thx in advance =)

It doesn't matter what you eat/drink/medicate with before hand if you are ALLERGIC to alcohol, you are going to have a reaction. Best bet is to learn to have fun without feeling the need to be drunk like everyone else.

I think you are allergic to some thing you may be drinking in-particular. I would see a doctor and not worry about what anyone thinks. Also a pepcid or pepto wouldn't help those symptoms more like benadryl for the hay fever and as for hives not sure about that one. I would honestly avoid alcohol until you find out why you do that - it could be more serious then you think.

No, I can tell you as a Pharmaceutical Chemist

You need to go see an allergist or Internal Medicine Doc.
Alcohol is a poison, not an allergen

I've never heard of that. Wow, that's really aweful! Is it all alcohol? If so, switch to other forms of "recreation" to get "drunk" with your friends.
