I don't want to see it either. I know that I would be a weeping mess and I can't bear to watch what happened to the person I love most in this world. I would be angry.

As a human being I wouldn't want to see that piece of dreck. Not because I'm an atheist, but because I just don't think it's right. If you're a christian, and you're going to make a film about Jesus, why focus on the crucifixion? Why spend two hours or more showing a man being brutalized, his skin ripped to shreds, and nailed to a cross? Why not focus on something else? My boyfriend's mom who is Evangelical, watched the first hour and had to turn it off because it made her physically ill. Literally sick to her stomach. She says she's had nightmares about it since then. It's not a movie - it's a snuff film.

I am often surprised when I hear this statement. I am not Christian but I do know the story of Jesus being put to death.
I am certain there was nothing pretty about Jesus being beaten, spit on, paraded through the streets with a heavy wooden cross on his back and thorns shoved into his temples. Not to mention the actual crucifixion.
I saw the movie and found it very moving.

It was a great film.
However, when they did the scourge scene, it was in-accurate.
Roman law was very strict. There could only be up to 40 lashes. If there were more, then the family would have the right to scourge the soldier that inflicted the +40 lashes. Usually, they (soldiers) would do 39, as not to go over.

It's very graphic and very violent. But then again, so was the reality.
No, it's not strange for you not wanting to see it (for that or any other reason).
Approach all things with an open mind and an open heart. Have faith.

I am a Christian and chose not to see it either. I feel like the Bible will teach me, and I didn't want to watch someone portrayed as Jesus. I was told that the movie is very loud and unnerving.
I am happy for anyone who wants and has seen it, I am not criticizing the movie, after all I haven't even seen it.

It's not strange at all. The movie makes you think about what all Jesus suffered for our sins but some scenes are pretty graphic. You are just choosing not to yield to those graphic scenes.

As a Christian, I am going to say to you that there is not anything wrong with you not wanting to see it. I promise you that I wish I had never seen it. In my opinion, I think it caused a lot of prejudism between the Christians and the Jews.

No, it's not strange. I saw it and it was definitely graphic so I'll never see it again. I'm glad I saw it the once and it was a very powerful picture of the heinousness of our own sin. However, for me, once is definitely enough. And I wouldn't blame anyone, especially sensitive folks, for not wanting to see it.

I saw it and it is very graphic and violent, But I'm guessing it's not even close to what our Lord went through to save us from an eternal
life of damnation! To see what He went through for me, for you, for everyone, it's heart wrenching, but maybe it will light a fire under some of us who have taken our salvation for granted! I would suggest you see it, and thank the Lord again for what He has done for us!
