So much negative, ill-spirited, divisive diatribe about religions. If you want to know about a religion shouldn't you read thier texts, thier lectures, and speak with thier folllowers as opposed those who dislike or attempt to turn you away? I especially see this amongst the various Christian sects - individuals tearing down others' beliefts rather than professing thier own. When I was studying Buddhism I read Buddhist texts, visited the Buddhist temple, spoke with monks and members and practiced what they taught. It was by these means I felt I obtained an accurate understanding of what they believe. It seems logical. Right?

Of course it's logical. It would be stupid if you wanted to get info on, let's say the Jewish people... and you went to the KKK and the Nazi's to get the information. Don't think you're going to have honest info.
But, people love the darker side of things. especially if it's somebody else's religion. It's so much easier to simply say "they worship the wrong god" than to try to find out what it is they are actually doing.

You are not realizing one thing...in this forum you can claim you stand for anything but do not have to back it up....logical is a claim made over and over by the atheist side on here but they really do not back it up and make it hard for the rest of us because we have so much garbage to sort through to get any meaningful discussion.....then again we have to forgive most of the people in this forum they are still very young and only think they know what they are talking about...the rest are a totally lost cause.

Spot on. That's why I've read the Bible several times and many discussions of biblical ideas. I'm still looking for the theist willing to put as much trouble into reading Darwin so that they can claim that their arguments about evolution are actually of any value. Because otherwise they're not.

Every sentence is the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. Have noticed such heinous misunderstandings about other religions that the Asker appears to be silly ignorant, wayward, and lost. Such ASKERS do not know their Mama's religion, yet they are out to raise fingers.

It sounds very logical, and I think that if everyone did that, they would be less quick to judge. I am a non-denominational christian. I don't not believe in pushing your beliefs on people but rather telling them about your beliefs. One needs to figure out what they believe in order to understand everyone. My answer is yes it seems very credible.

Absolutely. I wish others would take your lead. So many people get the wrong impression of what religions (other than their own, and in some cases, even their own) believe, all because they don't investigate it themselves.

I have read the texts and find that those who profess to follow the texts do not know them well.
