Unfortunately it almost never completely goes away...
But doing lots of leg lifts helpe me. Not just sit-ups, since they work mostly your middle/upper abs, but lay on the floor or at a gym and hold onto something with your arms. Then lift your legs up just a foot (not too high or it is ineffective) or so and hold them there. (You will feel the pull in your lower abs where they were stretched out.) It hurts like the devil at first but is the only way I have seen the post-baby pouch go away. Good luck!

You don't say how old your son is. It takes awhile to loose your weight after having a baby - at least for some people - others can walk away and look like they've never had a baby. You can try doing exercises that will tighten up the stomach muscles such as sit ups and leg lifts. Go on the net and I'm sure you can look up which exercises would be good to tighten the stomach muscles. I had a C-section with both of my boys so it was a little more difficult to get the stomach back in shape. Of course you probably won't ever be exactly as you were before having a baby unless you are just one of "those" kind of people. A low carbohydrate diet is good for a short period of time but it's not good to stay on for a long time. It consist mainly of meats, cheese, eggs, most anything green, a few fruits in small portions. You can't have any sugar, chocolate, potatoes, breads or fruits high in carbs. Again you can look this up on the net and find out which foods are high in carbs and which ones aren't. There are other diets that are good also and you can get books from the book store to give you some ideas. Usually if you just be careful about what you eat and eat smaller portions your weight will come off. Drink water instead of tea or soft drinks or anything with sugar. Hope this is some help. Be glad you aren't 60, 5' 21/2" and weight between 145-160. I've always been able to keep my weight down to around 110-120 depending on whatever but started gaining weight last Dec. and I haven't been able to get it off no matter what I do. I can't exercise like I used to and I don't eat that much especially sweets anymore so can't figure out what's going on. I gained 10 lbs in a week and that's not normal. I do have to take Lasix (a water pill) because I retain fluid and my weight will go down but other than that even not eating doesn't take it off. My sister always said that grannys are supposed to be soft and smushy so guess I finally got soft and smushy - LOL. Good luck - hope something I've said is of some help.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout to use as well.

If you have stubborn belly fat, the only way you can reduce your fat is by doing aerobic exercises. During activities like swimming, rowing and walking, enough oxygen is supplied to the body to burn fat. Fat is burned from all over the body, including the stomach. I wish there was a quick way, cause I'd be doing it right now, but there really isn't. Eat lean meats and veggies and workout 3-4 times a week at a gym or a suitable dvd at home.

Nursing helps a lot. I nursed all four of mine and lost all the weight without really trying. I usually gained 50 pounds when I was pregnant.
