Are you aware that the term "Christian" was intended to be derogatory but the early "Christians" took at as a badge of honor. Some time ago, I was called a yellow bellied coward because of some stupid thing, and they thought it would bother me. It did not. Every time I got booted, I came back on and said I got new boots..yellow ones to match my belly. I have even had someone start a hate group with my real name on Yahoo and they joined my group to post a link to it. I approved it because truth has nothing to hide.

No my friend, instead of returning this in kind. lets us it as a badge of honor.

A FUNDIE an proud of it!

Not all Christians are referred to as "fundies". Just the fundamentalists. You know, extremists who feel they have to force their religion down everyone's throat.

It isn't only atheists who use that term. Pagans, such as myself, use it, too. (Though to a "fundie", anyone who is not a Christian would be an atheist.) I don't refer to every Christian as a "fundie". My mother and father are not "fundies". They pray to the Christian god and believe the things the Bible says, but they accept what I am and love me anyway. Fundies wouldn't do that.

As for what to call atheists and others who don't believe in the god of the bible, "scorchers" and "underworlders" both have a very nice ring. I'm more partial to "underworlder", though. Scorcher sounds like a hamburger and kind of makes me hungry.

I don't think atheists call all christians fundies however if they did I suppose you could call the undies rather than underworlders. Actually name calling isn't nice but it sure feels good sometimes doesn't it.

Hey, Jimbo!

I believe not one person read your question for what it was meant for and that's positivity without taking offense or preaching to ya! You said "A good DEROGATORY term" and that wasn't evil nor trying to stir up strife but for fun. Geez!

Here's my suggestion:
Nikki named them this months ago - Ape' ists (partial ape and atheist) which I believe is cute.
I use unbelieving sinners in my answers to them or hell bounders which is a Bad derogatory term but do you Think I Care?

Great question!
Shalom/God bless

I am not an Atheist. And, I do not call all Christians ''fundies''. This means someone who is very conservative in the practice of their religion. And, most Christians are not conservatives, but liberal in their beliefs.

Why do you need to call Atheists anything? That is only being a bigot.

i think of it is precise to apply the term "claims to be" while pertaining to how somebody self identifies their association. i can not quite comprehend notwithstanding if somebody is an Atheist or a Christian in keeping with their statements to that result. As a working occasion i'm no longer able to in all risk comprehend if somebody is something they profess to be while they're talking on the cyber web. adult males often fake to be ladies, homely ladies fake to be extraordinarily ladies, those with complexes fake to be popular. it is all area of the unfavorable aspects of verbal exchange with out assembly people head to head. there is an elementary direction to absorb this situation. the two take each little thing pronounced by each physique as being suspect, or take what each physique says at face value on an identical time as booking a grain of salt for those people who stretch credulity. My perspective is that individuals who take each physique as suspect are people who enhance a flag with me, and that i take what they say with a grain of salt. individually I settle for that if somebody self identifies as Christian, then I take it that they are Christian except their habit makes a lie of their words. the comparable is going for Atheists and the different faith discussing themes in this talk board. as an occasion while somebody self identifies as an Atheist, then says they do in comparison to Christianity. notwithstanding, they have self belief some thing divine different than the Christian God exists, then i comprehend they do no longer understand what the term Atheist potential. i've got met lots of people who declare the two Agnosticism and Atheism as nicely. Agnostics particularly don't have expertise, even of the non-existence of the divine. for that reason an Agnostic isn't an Atheist. Agnostics are in many circumstances taking the two an apathetic or a wait and see aproach to divinity. individually i do no longer dislike Christians, Buddhists, Taoists, Jews, Scientologists, etc.. as long as they could accept as true with non violent co-existence with different faiths i will get alongside nicely with people from maximum non secular traditions. notwithstanding, I even have additionally seen and studied enought of the historic music checklist for religions that i comprehend to rigorously shop an eye fixed on those which exchange into prepared as area of the political capability shape of a rustic. This consists of prepared Atheists with a social or political time table jointly with are generally utilized in Russia, China, and North Korea. i'm hoping this helps.

Thats not nice! Although a lot of atheists love to poke fun at those who believe in God, I feel bad for them, there's no need to call them anything, because they are going to have to deal with God when the time comes.

"fundy" is not a generic term for all Christians, it just refers to fundamentalists. I don't see how it's even derogatory. It's just a cute nickname for what they call themselves anyway.

An equivalent would be "freethinkies" or something like that.

Why do you take the word 'fundie' as derogatory? It's just a shortened version of 'fundamentalist'. If however you think the word 'fundamentalist' is derogatory, there's nothing we can do about that.
