What do you do to get away quick from someone who won't stop talking?

I get suckered in all the time. I used to be very nice and just listen to them, Then I started to lie to get my self out of it. Now I just don't care very much any more and I will just say. "I am sorry, but I must be else where right now." And leave.

I do all the time. People just can't take a hint that the conversation is OVER. Most of the time I have to make up some lame excuse they probably don't buy anyways. Maybe its just that you and I are personable. Who knows?

I don't get suckered in ..probably b cause I'm rude and I just walk off
but my daughter does all the time..poor sweet thing
when I see that she can't take it anymore I just call her at the top of my lungs and then she's like I got to go bye

I used to run a pub. Ten hours a day, seven days a week, trying to get out of dull conversations :(
This is why I no longer work in the trade...
also I am a grumpy old git ;)

I always just say..."Well, I gotta get going, I have so much to do today!" But ugh, somehow I usually end up staying another half an hour or so! LOL!

i have a son, and normally i can say he is fussy or he needs to go to take a nap/bed. tell them you have other things that need done and it was nice chatting.
also, if its on the phone, pretend that you got another call, and tell them its a friend you haven't talked to in a long time and got to go.
if its in person, ask what time it is, and when they tell you, say, wow! i have a lunch/dinner date with a long lost friend in 20 min, i really have to get going, it was nice chatting with you!
ihope that this works. and if they ask about your friend later, just say that she was only 'in town' that day and it was nice to get to talk with her

Tell them you are busy and need to do something/be somewhere.
For me, being pregnant, I say, "OMG I have to pee NOW"
Prior to this I use to blame a lot on my husband. "I'm sorry I need to get off the phone, my husband wants me to..." or "I have to go I promised to be home at..."
