Although I am not a Christian, I am very touched by this story. To me it is not only a Christian story but a story of understanding, acceptance, and tolerance. I wish all people lived this way.

I've read it before. As my mother used to say, when you attend church you should wear the best that you have, as if you were to meet the president. However, if you only have torn up jeans, etc, then no problem. People will look as the person is different, however, the churches that I have recently attended, would not be offended and would look on it as an opportunity to get to know the person.

It is a new twist on an old story about a homeless man going to church with the same results. The message is clear, we should not judge by appearances. A very Christian message that I agree with completely.

That's an awesome story. I don't know if it is true or not, but I have seen very similiar things happen at churches I have attended.

i think that it is sad that people think they are better than a certain person because of what they have on. The Bible tells us that man looks on outer appearance, but God looks on the heart. People are not gods. People can be mean. Jesus loves in sweatpants, Jesus loves me in a dress. The important thing is , he loves me.

"Come just as you are" ---

1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Yes. Excellent point made! No one should be rejected because of their appearance.

As for church apparel, I think it is respectful to dress nicely if you can.

The dress is to respect to god does not want it beautifull or ugly or wealth or luxary.
