(My parents are christians and they had an incident last sunday with some jehova witness folks right across their church,, my parents are catholic...., not to get into details but it has become a divise issue for them at least, I was wondering if other people had the problem) I think all cocmmunities do to a point... but if everyone is of the same faith... they should be united at least to me....

For some Christians diversity among the body of Christ seems to be a problem. I would hear Christians bad mouth other Christians and say they were going to Hell. This was one of the reasons I stopped going to Christian church. Not all Christians are this way of course but some are.

No, actually I view "many denominations" as a result of some people asking questions of faith. Sometimes we feel so strongly about some issue or another that we want to group together with other people who feel the same way (about that particular set of issues).

I see "many denominations" as the richness of Christianity in that many, many different groups can interpret some "other" issues differently, yet continue to have faith in God and in salvation thru His Son, Jesus.

As a simple example: some people believe in baptism by immersion (total immersion) in water. Some people believe in baptism by "sprinkling" water on the head. Neither belief is in denial of God's love and mercy. Yet different denominations were formed to accommodate the two views.

Thank you for asking the question and giving me an opportunity to express my opinion.

No, I don't think so having different denominations let people believing in God worship as they see fit. We all worship the same God, read the same Bibles( although there are slight variations ) and ask the same God to lead us down the right path.

This has never been a big problem, although over the years there have been argument and even blood shed over who is right. Unfortunately that proves we are human and need a savior.

I do not like to use the word "religion." For that is mans attempt in their best efforts to get right with God. Many different demoninations, or practices, that people follow that makes them feel like they can get in "good standing" with our creator. Thats why there are so many conflicts between these "religions" and people are fighting over it. Thats the result of tainting God's plan. We forget the reason Jesus came and died for us! He came so that we would have the true way back to the Father, and that He would establish the TRUE way of living. Thus, Christianity, which means Christ-like or little-Christ, is NOT a religion but merely the lifestyle of Christ that we are to replicate. Not by our own efforts, but made possible by the Holy Spirit in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Accept His Gift of salvation and experience the life of abundance. Dont make it hard on yourself when you know the answer! May the Lord Bless You Abundantly!!!

Jesus told Peter that through Peter that Jesus would build His church (not churches). Matthew 16:13-19, verse 18, "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." Jesus went on to say in verse 28, "Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." His Church.
As someone has already answered, in 1Corinthians 1:10, "Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."
In Romans 16:17, "Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause division and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them."

Yes, it is already a big problem because i always wonder why there should be many denomintions in christandom while all are using one holy bible. one of the reasons is diffirences in the interpretation of the bible. They don't agree on one thing and so they keep dividing the church giving it so many names.

No, not at all. We all basically believe in the same message, Christ died for the sins of the world, he was resurrected on the 3rd day, he's coming again. We disagree on theology.
