What does it say in the holy book of your particular choice of myth? Isn't that supposed to have all the answers?
Thall shall not wearethest thy jeans or hoodies uponeth the sabbath, for god will getteth sorely hacked offeth, or something.

Consider it this way; If there is a faith that you say you believe in, then YOU acknowledge and worship a life force far grater than yourself. All else comes after, not before this belief.
You will not wear jeans to your school Prom, why would you wear them to the House of your belief? Is your prom more meaningful? The same is true of the up coming holiday dinner experience. Who among you are going to someones house, dressed in jeans for dinner?
Again, does the dinner experience have a higher plane of respect than the House of your Faith.Belief?
I do not believe that GOD would through out jeans, but I do believe that you demonstrate RESPECT.
If you have nothing else, that is a different issue.
I have visited churches in Europe where dress code is an issue for both males and females, too include females having their hair covered and no halters.

I go to a Christian church and we wear jeans all the time. I'm guessing you have yet to visit an actual church or mosque, but I could be wrong.

Today anything goes in casual wear to church. However, to be respectful a woman should have on a decent dress. A man should have on a suit and tie. If you were going to meet the president would you wear shorts and flip flops? NO! Then why would you wear less for the Almighty of the Universe?

I think you should be able to go as you are. After all - would the church turn away a person who only own's one pair of jeans, a tattered t-shirt, and nothing more? If so - is that really the kind of church you want to go to?

about half the men and some of the women wear jeans to the services I attend... or you can wear a suit and tie... no matter... you will be welcomed at any service of those of The True Christian Faith... if you are not... let me know where and when... I want to have a talk with them...
YOu might be interested in this story on that general subject...as it is too long for here...here is the link

I don't know if you're looking for a serious answer but it all depends on the church. I can wear what I want, within reason, to the church I go to.

You can wear what you want to. It is only a question of how much respect do you wish to show the center you go to. Some people like to show respect so they take the time to dress up nice. They take the time to think about others. Like in going to see a play or going to church. Others don't care about others and dress in what ever they want. It is only a question of how much respect do you have for others, how much class you have. So it is up to you.

I am not familiar with mosques, but I know churches vary greatly in customary attire. It might be a good idea to check with somebody who already attends the one you are considering.

It depends a lot on the denomination of the church, but no matter what denomination it is I highly doubt anybody would "hit" you.
And, these days most churches invite you to come as you are.

Yes, and I don't know. I have often worn jeans to church, and it made no difference to anyone, but I suppose it makes a difference what church you go to.
