What ethnicity are you? My best friends are polynesian and they use cocoa butter in their hair while it is damp and it makes it so beautiful and gives it a nice sheen.
You may want to try a different shampoo, because a lot of drug store/grocery store shampoos have harsh detergents that dry out your hair, which causes frizz.
I recommend using salon products, like Pureology. It may seem like you are paying more for the intial product, but in the long run it lasts longer. Mainly because the ingredients are highly concentrated and so you don't have to use as much as something like Suave or Patene ProV. Compare ingredients and see what you are getting for your money.

Get GHD hair straightners and a product called oil sheen by designer touch, available in afro hairdressing salons. I don't have afro hair but it keeps my hair shiney and smooth. Use as a leave in conditioner, dry apply another coat and then straighten. Lovely jubley.

I have really fine hair that frizzes easily - Wella "Repair & Shine" drops (Used after drying / styling your hair) have been a lifesaver!
Don't use too much, you'll end up greasy!

Try using hair gel on your hair so it stays. This holds your hair in one spot. Also try to use a different conditioner and maybe straighten your hair more often than you normally do!!!
good luck

Try straightening your hair more often, or you could use hair gel to scrunch it so that it just goes with your hair doo.
