What's the deal with overapplying to college? How many should you apply to, and why is it a bad thing if you over apply? What are the consequences and the positives?

The only bad thing that I can think of that is bad about overapplying is the application fees. All of those fees can add up. Besides that, I don't know. But if you apply to a good amount of schools, then maybe your chances of getting into one are better.
I've heard that one should apply to about 4-7 schools. Mostly apply to the ones that you know you will be happy at and have a good chance of getting in. Also, apply at a couple of schools that you know for sure you will get into (just for backup). Hope this helps!

well it can be seen as indecisiveness on your part: that you have to apply to so many because you are unsure where you really want to go.

personally, i was valedictorian and i applied to 13 schools (got in all except 2 :) but i just look at it as a safety net.... goodluck
