Start with average height persons eye level.....would need more info on the wall and it's surroundings for size and shape.

The center of all pictures, paintings, etc. should be placed at 72 inches regardless the size of the frame or the wall.

It varies a lot depending on the picture and it's use. For example small pictures in a grouping may be hung low, say under the lampshade! If you have a mansion and are picture crazy, you may hang them from eyelevel up to the ceiling. However, for the vast majority of us, eye level is best. I hang mine so the middle is about 62-65 inches off the floor and will be viewed mainly while standing. For intimate areas where the picture is above a desk where it will be viewed sitting, the picture is quite a bit lower.

Experiment, which height is best for your room and you.
