Ok, I love a bad pun as much as the next person. I've even coined a few. But these are awful! LOL

Maybe it's just the atheist in me, but I've always found these to be a bit smarmy as well. But perhaps I'm seeing more than is truly there.

I'm an atheist but I get a kick out of the ones on my nearby united church's sign. Here are some:

Under same management for over 2000 years
Beat the Christmas rush, come to church this Sunday!

Sorry to pay attention which you hate those signs and indicators, yet to each and each there very own. maximum churchs if no longer all of them do no longer pay taxes. yet i does no longer think of that your paying taxes on that sign they're putting their provides on. in case you purchase a demonstration and l got here to you to place a upload on it, i'm the only which will pay the taxes on that, no longer you or anybody else. very equivalent to in case you purchase a poster in a keep, you are the only which will pay the taxes, no longer the guy in the back of you're anybody else. So while that guy or woman places the upload on that sign and it quite is a church that does it, they do pay for the upload yet your precise, there is no taxes extra to it. yet to respond to your question, no those signs and indicators do no longer worry me. Oh additionally, the guy who will pay the electrical powered energy is the guy who owns the sign, no longer you or me. Have a large Day!

In Liverpool during the 1970's, any Church with a sign saying

JESUS SAVES normally had
BUT ST. JOHN SCORES ON THE REBOUND written underneath

Ian St John was a Liverpool player at the time, by the way.

Another one (allegedly real) I have heard of is
LAYING IN BED GOING "OH GOD, OH GOD" ON A SUNDAY MORNING IS NOT RELIGION

The worst are still mostly harmless, and the best can actually inspire. I'm a Humanist, but I always read them, no matter what the denomination. Some are really great, like "Hate is not a family value."

I think the tackiest one I ever saw read "For all you do, His blood's for you!"

They are good for sayings and may help us remember deeper truths of God but of course we need the meat of the word to grow into spiritual giants for God.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

My church doesn't use them, and never will. Our church sign has the Mass schedule, and that's it. Anyhow, most of these cute slogans are already terribly worn out from overuse. However, I'll occasionally see one that makes me smile, or makes me think, or even makes me want to argue. Our priest won't use them because he feels that our theology stands on its own, without any overly cute (and potentially tacky) commentary.

I love reading clever church signs! It makes me happy because their church has a sense of humor.

I like them. There's one on the way to work in Utah that says "If you're lost, we have GPS - God's Plan for Service." Positive marketing is best!

Clever ones are the best! I saw one a couple of years ago that said, "God wants spiritual fruits, not religious nuts."
