the military follows many of the rules during ramadan. including no pork, and sometimes, depending on the commmander, they restrict phones, as a way of honoring them i guess. thanks

I do hope he called. There are no restrictions as far as I know in the Islam community that a husband is not allowed to talk to his wife on the phone. I mean what if your husband was with you surely you have to communicate. I know all sexual relations are prohibited while one is observing the fast that is sunrise - sunset but after that u can engage in sexual activity if your husband wants as it is a wife's role to satisfy her husband. But one has to make "Ghusl" - obligatory bath before one has Sehri "the time you eat in the morning". Any way I really do hope he called. My husband went to spend Eid with his family and didn't bother to call us when we wanted him too. I guess out of sight out of mind. But when he did call i told him to get loss cos absence makes the heart grow fonder. My kids and I spent a very lonely Eid together cos my parents also live very far away from us and due to financial constraints we could be there. Nonetheless we enjoyed it we made the best of the situation!!!

well ramadan (month of fasting) is 29 or 30 days. I will say that this years is over as of today (some countries ended yesterday). Most Muslim countries however celebrate Eid (the end of fasting month) for three days. I am not sure why your husband cannot contact you during the month of ramadan. there is no prohibition in any muslim country against using the phone during the month or at anytime. During the next few days the lines maybe busy due to the holiday but thats about it. Also, if he is on a base he should have no problems calling.

In response to above poster: the month actually shifts in relation to the solar/gregorian calender. That is the islamic clander is a lunar calendar which is about 10-11 days shorter than solar calendar (the calendar used in most of the world). So as the years go by it shifts, in fact next year the month will start in mid september and end in mid october. the year following that the entire month will be almost entirely in september. This will continue and in several years it will be in august and so forth. It will be about 35 years from now when the month will be similar to the this years.

Ramadan lasts one month, based on the Lunar calendar. FYI: He is not banned from having contact with you for the whole month. Only during the time he is fasting (dawn til dusk), he needs to stay away from food, water and other "pleasures" of life. The night belongs to you. There is no hardship in Islam. So, tell him to not make his life harder than it is already. However, there is no restriction of conversation and stuff.

I am sure Judaism will outlast either of its bastard offspring, Christianity and Islam. Predictions: * With Ratzi tha Nazi dead and buried, the Roman Catholic Church will move on rapidly and admit women priests. The Church of England will be disestablished and will seek reunification with Rome. This will be seen by some as the establishment of one world religion. * Laws will be passed worldwide outlawing homophobia, and culminating in high-profile televised arrests of preachers in mid-sermon. * Some of the more backward Christians will convert to Islam, in protest at the way the Church is now being forced to treat women and gays as human beings. The more progressive ones, on the other hand, will be falling over themselves to point out how this was their idea all along. * The supply of oil in the Middle East will run out for good, and Saudi Arabia will be left with neither money nor political influence. Middle Eastern Islam will regress further backward (if that's possible) and ultimately implode. * The more progressive muslim states, no longer feeling any obligation to demonstrate their piety to the Arabs in the hope of receiving cash handouts, will transition to secular governments. By this point, Islam will be finished: a dwindling death-cult with views considered by the majority of the world to be full-on bat$#!t insane, and only practiced in a small number of poor countries utterly insignificant on the world stage. * The manufacture of artificial life, and the subsequent observation that it is capable of evolution, knocks the final nail into the coffin of Young Earth Creationism. Repeated failures of the "End of the World" to manifest itself diminish public sympathy for end-times theology. * Christianity finally withers and dies in the West. * Judaism and Buddhism are the only organised religions still practiced in countries with any political influence. Since Moses predates Buddha, Judaism must be declared the longer-lasting of the two.

ramadan lasts as long as the muslim religion lasts, which, I suspect, (with the way things are going) will be a long long time. Insofar as not calling you because of the holiday, that's a crock and he knows it. He can call, he just cannot have sexual contact with you. (Great rule, eh). By the way, whose side is he on?

Ramadan lasts one month of the Islamic calendar. It generally occurs sometime in October. It ends with Eid-Al-Fitr, which is today, I believe. So, your hubby should be calling sometime soon.
