i'm agnostic and have no actual beliefs. i have concepts and hopes but i don't put much faith in them because in all self honesty i know i don't know. i'd like to face death as an adventure, an unmapped road trip. maybe there's an endless road ahead with all kinds of exciting new things to experience or maybe it's a dead end. i'll know when i get there.
PS. self honesty compels me to admit that the process of dying scares me some (i don't like pain. pain hurts me) but i have no fear of what happens thereafter.

I answered a similar question quite recently. I will die, my body will return to the Earth that has sustained me, and will be used to sustain future generations.
Physically, not spiritually of course. That is the true cycle of life.
I do not have a spirit, so that cannot live on. I am not frightened of death, because death is just an end. I'm not looking forward to the dying bit of death though.

No, I don't fear death. In fact, I view it as a logical and natural conclusion. It inspires me on a daily basis, a reminder that I only get this one life, nothing else. If I do right, then I've done right. If I've done wrong, then it is up to me, not to an afterlife and deity to make right what I've done wrong. In short, i get the credit -- and the responsibility.

Yes, of course. But you see, that is where the original need for a belief in gods and an afterlife came from: the human fear of the nothingness we return to at death. I am not sure if anything of our energy and spirit survives our physical death, there is no proof to say for sure. So, we atheists simply say that until there is proof the only logical course is disbelief. Savvy?

I have no idea what happens (I'm really not atheist, just agnostic) but, I think (or at least, hope) that if I lived a full life and completed the natural cycle (having made sure my children will be okay), I can die with serenity.

As a Buddhist I don't dwell on the matter but I believe in spiritual progression or more precisely attainment of a more enlightened state of consciousness without any deities.

I'm an atheist and believe when I die, I'm gone for good but 'live on' so to speak, through the things I've done while alive.... for example... I will 'live forever' through teaching my kids right from wrong, teaching them values and they pass it on to their own families.... Or from being a positive influence on someone's life, and from being a positive force for different types of charities... those kinds of things....

when christians die they lose everything too. they gain new things (or claim they do) but they lose everything first. and for the most part doesnt bother me one way or another as its part of life. however im agnostic and not athiest so i wont speak for them. but personal opinion if there is no god, it doesnt create a heightened fear of dying.
