People are fighting because they have abandoned the Sunnah of the Prophet which states to look for the crescent in the sky and if you see it, it is Eid next day. When people begin to rely on calculations or Eid happening in other regions or parts of your country etc, because we now have telephones, and put these means of establishing the eid over and above what is specified by the Prophet, then conflict results.
The crescent shows up in the heavens. It is silly to divide the Ummah by using any other means. If you celebrate Eid with people from another city, but do not celebrate with half the people in your own city, how silly is that?
Follow the Sunnah and remain united. Follow the Ulema who do not wish to follow the Sunnah, and divide yourself.
Whenever anyone puts someone lesser equal to or greater than someone higher, as our Prophet surely is higher to any and all Ulema of the Ummah or the World, then conflict is surely going to result.
But people think highly of themselves, their skills and put their knowledge above the knowledge given to the prophet by Allah SAW. Thus we are mislead, as Satan's folly was also to think he knew better than Allah.
I hope this answers your question. May Allah bless you for asking the question and Eid Mubarak.

The holy prophet once said that the people of his 'ummah' will be split into 77 groups. This prophecy of his is almost taking shape.
And my humble advice to you is that don't follow the movies or cheap books. Look for good literature on Islam and consult your Imam on important matters. Learned friends are however the best.
Although there is NO clergy in Islam, yet one sees the emerging power of the "clergy". We can do nothing about this.....
As regards celebrating Eid on two different days; well its a heady mixture of politics and interpretation of Islam.

neither books nor molvies are wrong,
it's only misinterpretation and misunderstandings of molvies,
followers have no logic, they blindly misunderstands books and then insist others.
and not only in Islaam, it's all over the world.
even in Hindu, Christian, Buddhism, and all.
but , i believe, the secular people
can and are saving religion, morals, ethics and values of own society & culture, being so neutral

If u think of earlier ages there were a hierarchy of men over women, the same thing they are still following now a days. and the follows are following it blindly may be for the shake of fear(of their life or God). Lack of awarenes is also a reason.

I think that their is a language barrier that causes people to misinterpret Islam teachings. People may take only what they understand and go with it. I can only pray that we can all come to common grounds so that the mothers and children can be safe.
