Seven years but unfortunately not in the case of murder or manslaughter. These are there for life.

Different offences are classed as spent and not declarable at different times the only place I have seen a full list with times is on the airports site with regard to job application. (this is in the UK)

Why don't you spend ten pounds on a police clearance certificate? You can do so via your local police station. If it comes back showing that there is nothing recorded against you, then you can go to those intervals with your head held high knowing that you have a clean record in the UK. I can't speak for Germany.

Hiya
your best bet is to call NACRO, they are a registered charity for ex-offenders. These are the people you can go to for information on your criminal record and number of years before you don't have to declare to an employer. They will also be able to tell you exactly what a prospective employer would be able to find out about you, such as what you went to prison for etc. The number to call is 020 7582 6500 their website is below. I hope you have some luck, good luck for your future. :-)

Sorry Caroline - a crime of that magnitude is never spent. Any crime where you served a sentence - unless you were found not guilty is never spent. Only minor prosecutions for theft etc. where no custodial sentence can be classed as spent after 7 years. You'd be better to declare it at the time of applying than be found out later. Having said that, depends what job you are applying for - lots of companies dont bother checking a criminal record. If its a job in position of trust, working with kids or the public you will have to own up. I wish you luck xx

It depends what job you want to do. A job in care and it's never spent. Any job which asks for a extended disclosure and it will show up. For everything else it is 9 years (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act)

Felonies are always on your record, but unless you are looking for a job in Germany, I don't know how anyone else would be able to look it up.
Honesty is always the best policy, however.

I think felonies are with you always. I would get a lawyer to help you get your record expunged so it will never show up on a background check. Other than that just explain to potential employers the circumstances and you will find someone who will hire you. I wish you good luck!

its a crime of violence and as such is never considered spent under uk law. it is one of several such as murder armed robbery and rape which cannot be removed from your criminal history however most employers only do a 10 year check unless its a specific job that requires an enhanced check

You always have to check the box unless you get pardoned or it gets expunged. Just explain what happened and go with the truth.
