They were rude and disrespectful. The funeral homes make it easier nowadays with those magnetic flags they put on all the cars in the procession; plus you have your lights on during the day and that should be a giveaway too.

Yes, absolutely they should wait for the procession to pass. Damn people. A few minutes out of the day to wait for a solemn procession is NOTHING. You'd have to be at a really crappy workplace if you showed up 5-10 minutes late because of a funeral procession! Argh. There is little respect anymore. You have no idea what I would have yelled (grief is very emotional otherwise I'm a very calm person). How sad is it that when someone does something nice anymore that we're *amazed*?

I agree with you - that was not the right choice on the part of the other drivers.

There's the small chance that the driver had never seen a funeral procession like this before (I don't see a ton of them around where I live) and didn't know what to do, but that doesn't explain why so many people did it.

They are supposed to wait, but too many people these days think that things like that apply to everyone else but them. They have no manners, no consideration, and it's a very sad commentary on our society. But, I will say this, my grandfather died last month and I saw many drivers pull over to the side of the rode to wait for the procession to pass. So at least there are some decent people still out there.

Now, for here in south La. the police are on motorcycles and something like that happened they turn around in a flash and after the violator.
When my father passed, the funeral director gave us an option to have the police escort or not. Did y'all have police escort?

The word is dis-respect. Anyone knows that you are NOT to interupt a funeral procession. But then again, there are probably some who don't know it. If there was a Police Officer, along, he should have given this driver a warning. No brains, no sense and absolutely no Respect.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you, your family, and the deceased persons family is doing OK. But most likely the person just did not pay attention. On a phone, listening to music, thinking about bills or what ever. I give people the benefit of the doubt on stuff like that. It could be that they were just jerks. But I tend to think people are better then that and say to my self that they just did not know. There is a Razor that says, "don't put to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity."
It was wrong. They are supposed to wait.
I hope you start feeling better soon.

Actually it's illegal to cut into a funeral procession, I'm shocked that the police escorts did not pull him over.

yes one is supposed to pull over and wait for the funeral procession to pass. That is very rude and insensitive. Appalling in my opinion. A real example of what has happened within our society. Men do not remove their hats in public buildings, they do not pull over for ambulances or fire trucks, they belch and pass gas in public and think nothing of it. Unbelievable. God bless

Yes, they should have waited until the entire procession went by. It's disrespectful to cut in regardless of how long the line of cars is.
