In the creation account found in Genesis chapters 2 and 3 we find the following statements:

And the LORD God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.

"You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

So who is the liar and who told the truth?

What does this tell us about their character?

Actually the Hebrew indicates that death would be an immediate result. And I’m not sure where you are getting spiritual death from. The text does not say that. I thought Christians like to remain true to the text.

In this fable, Satan told the truth. It also tells me that Adam and Eve were enslaved (by God) until Eve ate the apple and they were cast from the garden (freed by Satan). But that's just my interpretation. Who is better - the slave master or the one who frees the slaves? Personally - I'd rather be free and have to struggle to survive, than enslaved and not know how to do for myself.

Liar Liar

It is awesome that you long for the truth. Keep searching. You will indeed find it.

The Lord is not a liar. Once their eyes were opened they were separated from God.

Satan used the truth and twisted it to a form that was appealing to the flesh. Now you are taking the story and attempting to do the same. Are you more clever than either God or satan?

Be careful.

Be ever so careful........

Satan is the liar he was referred as the serpent in the Garden of Eden and you can tell he is a liar because he always questions "Did God really say....." that is how you can discern if something is from the devil.

He wants you to doubt the word of God. That is why Christians we'd better know it.

He is now referred to as "that old serpent" in the N.T.

every since then there has been death we die if Adam would have not ate the fruit there would be no death Satan is the liar he has been trying to twist the Word of God every since then God can not lie for what he says happens there is power in his words and there is power in ours we have the power to heal and the power to kill in our tongues how many time have you said something that made someone feel good and how many times have you said something to make someone feel bad we will be held accountable for all that we say and do for all liars will have there place in the lake of fire.

God told the truth: Adam and Eve did die, both physically (some time later) and spiritually (separation from God) in that moment.

Satan told the truth, and a lie: Yes, figured out how to tell between good and evil, but they did die.

What does that say about their characters? God is honest, and Satan is a liar (and he makes his lies more effective by sneaking 'em in between lots of truth).

The liar is of course Satan. A verse in revelation says that god banished this serpent, called the devil down to earth and all of his demons becuase they did not belong in the heavens, a sacred place. of course, god was telling the trth and he will so prove it on the day of armaggeddon, which is much much sooner than anyone thinks. if you studied the bible, you could conclude that if youfoolow his commandments, you may never die, right now. Yes, you. i know it sounds impossibe at first, but after a thorough study, you will understand. i can help you if you want. email me

Wouldn't it be an interesting thing to ask the author why they put God in the role of a manipulative deceiver? This God just happened to be extremely powerful.
