You need to give your body a chance to adjust before you'll start losing the weight. Your body isn't used to getting exercise or building muscle (this sounds cliche but muscle outweighs fat, your % of body fat has probably decreased while the % of muscle has increased). Don't limit your calorie intake so much, your body needs those calories for energy to burn more fat. Just make sure you're eating like 6 small meals throughout the course of the day and I would say in about two more weeks you start slowly increasing the amount of exercise you're doing. It's a slow process if you want to lose the weight the healthy way. I think it's awersome that you didn't try to do one of those crash diet. Be patient, it sucks to start trying to lose weight and not seeing the difference, I bet you feel the difference though. Feel good in knowing that you're doing something about it, everyday you are waking up and trying to change your old habits and embrace a new lifestyle. Kudos to you. Be proud. If, at the end of another month you don't start noticing the pounds disappearing you should consider going to the doctor and talking to him or her, they can test your thyroid and hormone levels (assuming you're a woman) and give you a better idea of what would work for you. Good luck and keep up the good work!!!!! You rock!!!!!!

Wow, I am shocked that you haven't lost any weight after an entire month. You really should have lost at least 2-3 pounds by now considering the major change that you made. I think to answer your question better, I would need more specifics about what exactly it is that you are eating. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you stuck within the calorie or fat range that you wanted, but it depends on the actual food. Some people's bodies react differently to different types of food. I am referring to carbs- bread, pasta, potatoes, cereal. Although some of these food are very low in fat, they do not aid in the loss of weight for some people. For people that have this problem, it is better to stick with carbs like rice, oatmeal (regular-not flavored...you can add your own sweetener like Splenda or even fruits), and cereals that are made from rice or oats...not wheat. And it's important for these people to cut out the other carbs as much as possible. Maybe this could be your problem. I hope I helped a little bit! Good luck and don't give up =)

I stuggled my whole life to keep my weight under control. Finally I got to 39 years old and decided I had to do something for real. Fad diets, magic diet pills, 20 minutes exercise a day 3 days aweek and all the other weight loss myths were never going to work for me. This is what worked: I started cutting any processed food from my diet, that is anything that is in a can, box, bag etc. Eat only natural food, RAW veggies & fruits mostly. I had a few sessions with a personal trainer and started working out at a gym. Eventually I couldnt afford the gym any more & started just working out in my house. I kept increasing my excercise level. Now I work out 2 to 3 hours a day, hard workout not light. I got down to around 20 pounds over what I wanted to be at & got stuck. Nothing worked. So I reexamined what I was eating and decided to try eliminating milk from my diet. Well ten pounds fell off me in a week. Also I found I could eat more food and still lose weight, as long as I wasnt drinking the milk. I'm now around 5 pounds away from the weight I want to be. I have slipped lately and am eating too much processed food, but am not yet gaining any, but not losing the last 5 lbs either. So I am going to clamp down on my diet again and get back on track before I start gaining weight. None of this weight loss happened quickly, it took almost 2 years to go down 3 clothing sizes, so don't give up.

Wow... well done, sounds like you have made loads of positive changes. I am really surprised you haven't lost any weight if you have done all this. If I was you, I would make a doctor's appointment, could be that there is a metabolism problem, something hormonal? Don't want to worry you, it's not that uncommon and there's lots you can do about it if that's the problem. The other thing you might try is a bit more aerobic exercise... jogging, aerobics, dance, spinning, cycling, swimming? Something that really gets your heart racing. Of course, if you're quite overweight, you should ask your doctor or a health professional at your gym about this first. Finally, the numbers on the scales are only part of the picture... your weight is affected by body composition, with muscle weighing more than fat... so it's possible for two pwople to weight the same, but one to have much more body fat. Good luck!!

Your plan is great. I'd make sure you are getting enough calories for healthy weight loss tho. Not enough calories for your weight could be putting your body into starvation mode and it won't loose. It'll hold on to all the calories too survive. For me, I'm 170 and stick with 1200 to loose.
Another thing to do to build up a faster matabalism is too eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. You won't have the hungry feeling, and your body works better.
Also remember, that muscle weighs more then fat. How are your clothes feeling? Better? That's a great indication that you're losing.
Keep up the great work!!!

make sure and eat something small and healthy first thing in the morning to start your metabolizim (sorry about the spelling). Keep it up, sometimes it takes a while. I lost 60 lbs by playing tennis for a couple of hours at night in the summer. I would sweat for an hour at least, running all over the place, then go swimming to cool off. I dropped the weight in a few months.

Cardio + Light weight training + Proper Diet = Goal
* Eat whole food
Top weight loss tips
Eat whole foods that are as natural as possible. When you eat whole foods that are full of nutrients your body will know how much to eat and how much not to eat. You do not have to count calories because your body is a wonderful machine.
* Eat fresh fruit
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season. Also consume protein because both fruits and protein can fill you up and it makes your stomach seem like its full.
* Drink enough water
Drink the best weight loss supplement known to man, water. Most people do not know the difference from being hungry for food or thirsty for water. A great deal of times people eat when they should drink. Most likely you will not feel as hungry if you are getting enough water. You will be satisfying the thirst, which is confused for hunger. Water also helps you digest food better. Drinking water before you eat will help fill you up.
* Always chew your food
Always chew your food well. Chewing your food well will ensure that you get the most nutrients out of your food. Getting the most nutrients will satisfy your body therefore you will eat less. Another benefit of chewing well is that it helps aid in digestion.
* Take small meals
Eat small, frequent meals in a day. Large meals tax your digestion system, making it work harder. Taking too much time in between meals makes you hungrier for the next meal.
* Include protein at meal
Include good sources of protein at meal, chicken, fish, legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, eggs or yogurt.
* Shut off TV while eating
Shut off the TV whenever you eat – that includes meals and snacks. Studies show that we automatically eat larger portions when we snack in front of the tube, and typically those foods are high in fat and sugar, which means excess calories!
* Increase your physical activity ( Cardio )
Increase your physical activity. Most people are over weight because of a lack of physical activity. Start walking more, bicycling, walks your dog for longer periods of time, swim, dance and leave the car at home when you can. It’s important that you choose a physical activity that you enjoy because you’ll stick with it.
*Weight training ( Light 5 to 10 lbs )
buy some dumbells that are 5-10 lbs and do some exercises with them. Search google: Dumbell exercises and you will see a bunch of useful links along with pictures and description on how to do it. When gaining weight but your doing everything correctly and see changes in your shape, that means you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so dont be alarmed when that happens
