The "optimal height" is based on your perspective, you should be looking straight at the center of it when seated. Sit down on your couch, or whatever you are sitting on, then have someone measure from you eyes to the floor. This is the ideal distance from the center of the TV to the floor. If you need the TV to be higher then you can compensate with an mount that lets you angle it down.

Well, if you're considering the height of the TV to the viewing
height of your sitting position, have the center of the TV sit at
your eye level and at a distance of 2 to 4 times the diagonal
measurement of the television.
