I have I photo and wondered if it can be done there

sure, google's Picasa will do it, it's free and works well, just open it with the program then save it in whatever format you want, here's the link

Pretty much any photo or image software will do that. You can use MS Paint (in the start menu under accessories). Open the photo file, go to file > save as, and make sure you select jpeg or jpg for the format.

yes , it's possible !
if it is not aa animated gif you can open it with Microsoft Paint and choose save as ... from file menu .
then change file type to JPG .
or if you have Adobe Photoshop , it's better to use this this program ,

Rename the file and call it jpg instead of gif. In other words, call it picture dot jpg instead of picture dot gif. That should take care of the problem.
