A BSB basically supports an entire brigade. In the past birgade had to be supported by higher levels, under their division, but the idea os the BSB is to make a brigade self sufficient. Don;t worry about it too much, My unit was a Forward Support, then a BSB, then back to forward support, then when i was leaving the Army they were going back to a BSB. Honestly, None of us could tell the difference in any of it. I volunteered to go out with the infantry when they needed medics, and they noticed no difference either. It is the Army, they have no clue what they are doing normally anyways. So i Say don't worry about it, drink some water, and hurry up and wait!

Here in Tal Afar, FOB Sykes, the BSB is what supports the units on the outside of the wire with the supply and command units. They provide radio and communications support as well as security on the FOB and other support type duties. With todays Army, nothing is guaranteed. MOS's change and then they are sent where they are not needed. Here we have cooks working guard duty because contractors do all the cooking.
