If you have plaster, you will want to clean out the crack so that there are no loose pieces. Use drywall compound (premixed in buckets) and get some mesh drywall tape. Fill the crack with compound and cover with the mesh tape. Keep adding and removing compound (sand it off) until smooth. You may have to add some texture to paint to match the rest of the ceiling.
If the plaster is loose from the lath (wood strips), you might want to get some large-head plaster screws and pull the plaster tight to the lath before fixing the crack. Cover those screws with the drywall compound.

Assuming it no longer a helping wall and is purely an inner wall then you actually have no longer something to easily difficulty about this is going to basically be a case of enlargement, do what you'll to strengthen it cosmetically! notwithstanding even if it is a helping wall in spite of the actual incontrovertible truth that back its right down to enlargement it would want to be well worth calling someone in to take a seem, only for peace of recommendations, do not get talked into an severe priced answer because it sounds to me like no longer something!

NEED MORE INFO, is the ceiling plasterboard ? if so, then any filler, if it is an old lathe and plaster ceiling it could fall down and injure you, i would not recommend artex, it is cheap and nasty, it holds the dirt and is difficult to paint. It was probally designed by someone who dose not know how to plaster properly

Its a shame that you did'nt tell us what kind of ceiling it was, as it would be easier to reply to, whether you rent or own. ?
If you rent ask landlord.
If you own, rake out with triangular scraper and fill with filler Carlite Finish. Apply a layer but finishing below the surface.
Next day do final finish.

Paste a vinyl wallpaper mural over it if the home is not yours, if you do not have water damage. If the crack is from water damage, get it fixed and deduct the price from your rent.
