You have to do what is best for you and your children. If your finances are good enough to be supported by a part time job, then I say go for that. This way, you're still bringing in an income, get time to spend with the children, and still get a chance to get out and break up the stress of being home all the time. But if your finances need a more higher income, then I'd say to take the full time job. You just won't be able to spend as much time with the children as if you took the part time job. Ya, I say go for the part time job, cause your children are young right now. Once they get older, and enter into school full time, then it'll be easier for you to take a full time job that works with the same, or near the same hours as school hours. Good luck in making your decision, and enjoy whichever position you take!!

Depends on your home setting. Think of childcare costs, if there will be any. Kids grow up so fast and you can buy that back.
I worked full time from the time my oldest, now 21 was in kindergarten. We needed the money that was for sure so there really wasn't any question about part time or full time. Now that I am a full time stay at home mom, I wonder if I hang around the kids too much! ha ha If I had to chose as you do, I would probably take the part time, who knows, maybe at some point it will turn into full time.

Which can you afford to take. Which will make you feel more fulfilled? Do you need benefits? - the first is part time and full benefits may not be offered. Will both jobs allow you to leave if your children have an emergancy?
What does your gut tell you? What would you do with your kids before or after school. Is the 2nd company flexible. Can you work through lunch and leave a 4:00?
All things to consider. Good luck to you.

I work from 8 to 5 Mon. thru Fri. and it feels there just isn't enough time after work to do much with my daughter. I would absolutely LOVE to have a part time job 9 to 3 only 3 days a week. For me, that just isn't in the cards because that would mean a pay cut and loss of insurance benefits. So, unfortunately, I need to stick with the hours I got. For you though, you will need to figure out the pros and cons for both types of jobs. If you can afford to take the part time job, then go for it!

I also have 2 kids ages 6 and 2. I work part time at the school district that my daughter is enrolled in. I work 8:30 to 12:30. It leaves time to get her to school and then still be able to pick her up from school. And as a bonus I get all the holidays off as she does. Also my husband works for the district too so we can plan vacations and stuff while we all have the same days off. It works out very well. I would choose the part time job. Quality time with your kids is priceless! Good luck! Looks like our kids are almost the same ages. Email me if you'd like.

What are you getting paid? If money is an issue, then take the job that makes you more money, even if it does take time away from your kids. Think about the long run: cars, proms, colleges.
Another question: Are you a single parent? As a single parent, you might want to consider your children's extracurricular activities. They always want at least one parent to watch them having fun.
Personally, i would take the part time, because of school letting out at 3. then you have the afternoon with them.

If you just want a little extra money, but its not that important take the part time job, where you will be home more often. If you need the money bad then take the full time job. You should also figure how much it will cost you for daycare both ways and how much money you will have left over both ways. I recently took a full time job over a part time job and the part time job would have been more beneficial to me.

I would go with the 9-3 job. That way I could be home when my children are. I've yet to need daycare for my kids which are 6 and 8 years old. I wouldn't want to start now. I say go with what you need the most though. I don't mean financially either but what you need to stay sane.

I think it depends on whether or not this is a job to get out of the house, or whether this is a job that is needed for money. We all want to spend as much time as possible with our kids, but when finances are tight, sometimes you have to give some of it up. It seems to me that both jobs give time to spend with the children before and after school. You won't be missing out on the morning excitement or evening rituals. So really it comes down to whether or not this is a job for you or a job for the family.

If you have to work, take the one with the least hours possible to spend as much time at home as you can. That is, if you still want to parent a bit, and not turn over your kids full time for someone else to do so.
