I cannot explain to you all the different sects there are mainly because there are a rediculous number of them.
I can explain the reason behind most of the hatred though. It's because people forget what they are worshipping and forcus on all the other nitty gritty crap included in the bible.
If you ever read the Bible you will see that there are some huge whopping contradictions in it. That posses a problem as the bible is supposed to be the word of God, but following it to the letter is immposible as the old testament says 'an eye for an eye' and the new one says 'turn the other cheek.' You can't very well do both...
So that's why you have so many different sects, they take apart the bible and choose which parts to make important and which parts not to. Then they argue with the other sects, because each sect believe they've got it right and everyone else it wrong.
I used to be a Protestant, before becoming an Agnostic. The reason I no longer follow it is because of the great big whopping contradictions, and the many many things that have been done in the name of God.

Because most people haven't figured out that religion is not a one-size-fits-all. All the different sects emmerged from people who had a different idea about a similar concept. Those who come up with and implement the ideas are the leaders, those who follow those ideas probably have their own ideas, but agree enough with one sect or another to be followers of it. If we left it up to every person on the planet to start their own religion - it's likely that not a single one would be exactly alike due to personal experience, perception, and personal creativity.
I'm not a Christian. But that's primarily why. My beliefs and what works for me is vastly different than Christianity.

There are so many reasons, brother. The all-encompassing, bottom-line reason is that people disagree on points of Scripture and therefore create different sects. Just for example, Martin Luther believed--among other things--in good works as a way to "earn" entrance into Heaven. John Calvin believed that certain people are elected by God into a relationship with God. Joseph Smith believed that Christ traveled all over the globe and left certain documents behind in the States (among other insane things). The SDA church believes that the Sabbath is on Saturday and that one must purify one's body through vegetarianism, etc., in order to know God.
While they all believe in Christ as Savior of the world, they disagree on points of scripture. It is simple. Some are enemies because some are blasphemous--like LDS, e.g.--and so others reject them. Ones that are blasphemous and scripturally unsupportable detest the others who call them blasphemous.
It is a long, involved story, one that cannot be summed up here by me. I would suggest that you do some research of your own. It is most helpful to be well acquainted with the differences among sects and denominations, so as you are equipped to discern between truth and falsehood.

Yea I ask myself that question too. Its ridiculous. We all read the bible and yet some of yes get a different meaning out of it or rephrase it to make it sound how we want it to sound. There are some sects that dont like everything that God is saying in the bible so they dont follow it. There is such a variety of beliefs that it makes me sick. I dont call myself anything. I read the bible and follow everything it says. Im just a believer.

There are NOT different sects, there is only Christianity. Too many churches like the Catholic church, the JWs, and the Mormon church, are non-Christian cults that do not follow God's Word, but instead distort it.
Baptists, are you a follower of Christ, or a follower of John the Baptist? If you say Christ Jesus, then why do you honor John the Baptist and not Christ Jesus?

All are servants of God.
They are just paying too close attention to specifics.
The only one I don't get is Charsmatics.
Lutherans follow the Lutheran standard, Catholics follow the Vatican standard, Church of Christ has their belief of not using music in worship, Jehovahs witnesses dont believe in hell, and dont believe in worshiping anything but God, and Jesus' death and resurection, Baptist are all about immersion, and salvation through baptism, Mormons believe that Jesus vistited the natives of america as well.
I go to a non-denominational church, where we follow the bible, and have our specific goals for our community. We are all the Church of Jesus. I go to this one because there is not 'rules' of having to say certain creeds that were not in the bible, there are a lot of ways to get involved, and I can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit there.

Because of the interpreter. You should do that research yourself. I could only tell you mine and why. I do not disrespect any Christian belief, I just don't always agree with their interpretation of the Bible. Pentecostal believe in tongues. Baptists, Disciples of Christ, Methodists, believe tongues means languages (and some of them have a difference, they just don't discuss it). Just a matter of interpretation. Hope that helps some

I am not sure of the different sects but I do feel that people change things to make them comfy with their lifestyles.
