dont listen to that moron javy..........god its no wonder hunters got a bad name........first if you dont have a permit, contact your local wildlife conservation officer, he will direct you to the next hunter safety course, after you pass the written and shooting exam you will be issued a permit, then and only then can you goto walmart and get your licence, make sure if this is your first time, join a group of hunters that have been in the woods and can guide you..on your first hunt...and yes deer season is in the fall unless you live where i do and it started in sept and lasts till jan

OH GOD, Jersey....... Escape from there while you can!!!!
I'm shocked they still have any hunting. I worked over there for years paving over NJ with Wawa's, Lowes, and 55+ Housing.
If you can actually find a place (hint up north, del water gap), heres the NJ hunting rules: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/hntlicfe.htm
Like most states you need to pass a hunter education course. And then buy a permit. But the now you have yet another hoop to jump through:
NJ Child Support Certification Information
License purchasers are required to complete a NJ Child Support Certification form. See the NJ Child Support Certification Requirement Information page for information, or go directly to the Online License/Permit/Certification Web Site where you can complete the process and be issued a Child Support Certification Number. Print the page showing your number and take to any license agent for purchasing a hunting license (not yet available online).
As I said escape now.....

check with your states game department. you may have to do a hunter education program before you can get a license. the regs will tell you the seasons, bag limits ect.

You need to go to Walmart and get a license, Then you drive down the roads outside of town at night with a spotlight on the woods and shoot anything with eyes refecting red back at you.
