The back pain almost seems like extremely tight muscles that get worse with tension and no pain medication helps. I am not sure if the pain in my back and the numbness and tingling are related, and if not what would be the cause

Just to be on the dafe side, please see a neurologist. There can be many serious things going on. Good luck.

Check if you have diabetes. What you complain of can be the presenting picture of a patient suffering from Diabetic Neuropathy. Let me know if I was right.

I am not saying this is the condition that you have but just that the probability is high. If you are non-diabetic, kindly approach a doctor and get qualified medical advice. Is this answer OK? Do let me know if you have more doubts.

It could be a side effect from a minor stroke. Pinched nerves could also cause the problem. See a doc ASAP.
