The reason I ask, is because people are using those terms in a hateful way, if you are either of those, then you shouldn't be offended

No, just lets me know that the accuser likes to work in a narrow framework, and is not worth debating.

Better to be thought of as a fool, than to be caught arguing with one.

No. Usually the Anne Coulters of the world spew this hateful garbage. Actually today's liberal is not for socialism. They are for freedom of the press freedom for our rights to live as we please without the government butting in. And for medical care that is affordable. They are anti-war which makes economic sense and are for education. One of the reasons we have so many stupid remarks from so called conservatives (Fascists) is because they are not educated and do not read. The are ignorant and just walk around with blinders on. They believe what ever their religions tell them and swallow Wolfawitz's load. Funny the spelling correction on this for Wolawitz is halfwits. Bush and Cheney are the worse thing that ever happened to this country. They squandered a budget surplus, which they credited to a Republican congress. Hmmm? We have a Republican Congress,Senate,Judicial dept. and President and we are 8 trillion in debt. Obviously they had nothing to do with it.
Calling someone a Liberal is not an insult. Calling them conservative is. Liberals are free thinkers and open minded by definition. Look it up. Conservative is the opposite.

I am a Liberal, so I'm not offended when someone calls me a Liberal. I am offended when someone asks me why I believe a string of things I don't believe and attaches the term "Liberal" to that.

Liberals hate to be call liberals but some how it's not a bad word.
NeoCons or just Conservative is a bad word according to the Liberals. I'm Conservative and I'm not offended for being called one and say DAMN SKIPPY I AM.

If someone called me a neocon I would probably laugh until I threw up. I *am* a liberal, and proud to be.

no, but I am tired of Cons lumping anyone who disagrees with them as "Liberals."

I think of myself as a progressive; I hold some very different opinions from those who do call themselves Liberal.
