does anyone know where to plug one in on a 1992 chevy C1500

I checked out the link Ironhand left for jumping out with the paperclip wasn't sure on the directions from that page and as to where the code was suppose to show

It can be read by a scan tool and the plug should be above the gas petal at the bottom of the dash. Its not obd2 but it is gm1 and has a 12 pin connector.

A 1992 is not a OBD2 Vehicle. It has the early diagnostic connector under the dash. OBD2 did not start untill 95/96

1992 Chevy is NOT OBD II compliant. The OBD II protocol did not become a requirement until 1996, (SOME 1994) year model vehicles.
If you want to retrieve your codes, you don't require a reader or scanner. You can do it with a paperclip.

With the descriptions in hand, refer to a repair or shop manual for proper diagnostic and repair procedures.
NOTE------>
Do not assume that a code for a MAP circuit refers to a failed MAP sensor. It could be a failure in the electrical connector or a broken vacuum line.

Its` at the pannel under the steering wheel collum. A black rectangular box w/ 12 or 14 ? pins. Either just to the left of the knees, or in between them.

It might not have one....I dont think manufacturers were required to Put them in until 95-96.
