I get called a tree hugger all the time at the spa I work at, along with boehemian lady, hippie, we are the world spirit, that most would say would leave me trampled in the dust.
Do you think so?
what do you think and what comes to mind when someone calls others by these names? Do not refrain from elaborating.
I wish you well

I do not take it as an insult, because regardless they still know who I am, and they accept me for that, because I do not impose my ideas upon them. Plus cannot deny my love for them.

A "tree hugger" is just another name for a "hippie", which is an old 1960's term for a nature lover. It comes from the term "Hip", meaning to have an understanding of the natural, metaphysical world. I think it could be taken as a nice compliment, as the opposite of a tree hugger/ hippie is to be "establishment", meaning to be a conformist with old established traditions rather than embracing new ideas and progressive thinking. I think the world needs more hippies and tree huggers, and bohemian ladies! Hats off to you for marching to your own drummer!

I dont know what all the other names mean but a tree hugger is someone who loves nature and does not believe in hunting animals. I dont think it is an offensive name. Keep in mind that as long as the person is hunting and actually eating the animal for food, it is not bad or wrong. It is only wrong when people kill for sport and don't eat the animal. Remember today we get most of our meat from supermarkets but that was not always the case.

I get called the same sort of names. I care about the environment and I also consider all life precious and believe in animal rights. When I hear other people called these names I smile and feel glad that there are others out there trying to make a difference. I do understand that some people think the fact that I love the environment means I'm a pot head but that's their deal. I'm the kind of person that dreams of living off grid in a very gentle to the earth kind of way. I try to live love. I personally like who I am so no names anyone could call me will bother me.

Tree hugger means that you are a sexual deviant. Your warm, loving, charming wife is likely more interested in a younger, more attractive version of you who works at your office. The cause of this is likely due to your reluctance to spend time with her in social situations; but more importantly, your desire to thrust up on some tree bark. When you are in intimate situations, you think of trees....weird man. Lastly, you likely are of a foreign ethnicity; greek, maybe?

I too get called "tree-hugging hippie" often by my conservative friends and family. I think that it is in reference to more liberal political and social viewpoints--being "granola" is another one I get called. I don't see it as an insult at all--it pretty aptly describes who I am politically.

An environmentalist who cares about the precious planet we live on. I would take it as a compliment, regardless of how it's meant.

It means that you care way too much about the environmnet. I do not think there is such a thing as caring too much. Don't take offense. Just tell them u are a better person than them!
