winecommune.com is a very well respected, high-volume online auction site. You research recent sales there, though it is likely that there hasn't been an exact match for your bottle recently. The value of your bottle will depend very, very heavily on your abilty to deomonstrate that it has been properly stored. Unfortunately, If it hasn't been properly stored, it is virtually worthless. If the fill-level is not above the shoulder of the bottle, or if the cork shows any sign of swelling or leakage, you know it has not been cared for properly. Even without those indications, it could very easily have been ruined over the years, and no one will be willing to take that chance without some solid assurances.

I did this recently with a 40 year old bottle of Dow vintage port 1966. I searched the web for reputable vintage port sellers then rang them with an enquiry for my particular bottle and year. They were able to give me an answer for the retail price over the phone. Christie's or Southeby's auctioneers may also be able to give free estimates. Good Luck

Vintages are meant to be enjoyed! no longer cooked with! Please please PLEASE dont' ever pour a classic something over a cornish sport chicken or what have you ever. you should use any wine to prepare dinner with-- this wine merits comprehend! it quite is older than you're (or your toddlers once you're older). it quite is alongside time to be on earth, in simple terms waiting to be savored. To my expertise you are able to't sell wine on Ebay, or any alcohol products. you are able to public sale wines yet you may could hit upon a wine public sale. My wager is that the bottles may be worth around $250 each and each. Hungerford Hill is an Australian vineyard (no longer hassle-loose for port), and 1980 is a protracted time in the past. I did hit upon a number of their bottles in an public sale record for approximately $50, from 'ninety 8 or so. one greater 20 years could bump up the value slightly. i might supply them as presents or rejoice with them with corporation.
