Or hate the Christian and not Christianity? Personally, I'm growing to dislike both.

I've gone way past "dislike" when it comes to fundamentalism of all stripes - be it the proselytizer or what is being proselytized. I'm entering "weary" and simply being "tired of it all."

I don't hate anyone but I do dislike Christianity and what it does to the human spirit. I have christian friends and religion is not something we talk about..they have their path, I have mine. The problem lies when people say inappropriate things to others that are not the same faith. I guess that is what you are talking about in a way.

I loathe when some self righteous christian tells ME that it does not matter how good of a person I am while alive unless I love jesus OR that christianity is the ONLY way. What kind of crap is that? I am hearing this so often these days, it's easy to start to get real turned off.

I'm an atheist, and I don't "hate" either Christianity or Christians. Do I dislike very STRONGLY that some Christians attempt to woo me to their side? Yes. Do I dislike the fact that they can't answer any of my questions without referencing an old book that I don't believe is true? Yes.

What I really dislike though is the fact that both sides, both atheists and Christians alike, continue to fight. Maybe we should all just realize that everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs or non-beliefs, and just move on with life.

Not necessarily either way. I think (when it comes to Christians) each individual should be judged on his or her own merit. I mean, not all Christians are pushy and nasty, nor ignorant. There are Christians out there who do believe in evolution and take the bible metaphorically. I've met quite a few. I also think that hating Christianity would be a waste because, while the religion certainly has its flaws (which I think it's normal to dislike/hate the flaws), it's not so much the religion as the followers that make a religion cultish, dangerous and/or nonsensical.

I think disliking Christianity makes sense if it goes against your beliefs but disliking Christians as a whole is a poor choice. There are many really open minded Christians out there. It would be a shame to count them all out because of the hard core actions of a few. Have you loved a Christian today?

I agree with Sandy, Christians don't have a monopoly on living life according to the teachings of Jesus. I do, however, find that most of the haters are Christian, they hate and fear the non-Christian. They are always feeling persecuted by the non-Christian, but I don't see it. I think Christians like to claim persecution because it validates their martyr- or messiah-complex. Most non-Christians I know don't hate or persecute Christians, we just wish you would go away. Instead we have to hear about it all the time, about how we're instruments of the devil and we're going to burn in Hell because we're: liberals, Democrats, progressives, gays, believe in reproductive choice, want to promote stem cell research and universal health care, care for the environment, haven't accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, don't go to church, don't read the Bible, on and on and on. I think Christians have way too much to hate. Hate is not a value of Jesus. Personally, I choose not to hate, therefore I am not a Christian.

Jesus did not invent or use the word Christianity. He probably would have deplored the use of a brand name for what was essentially the promotion of a personal relationship with God and a way of infusing love into life. He was trying to get people away from idolism, which is exactly what Christianity has turned into for many christians. Fear mongers and selfish bullies will use pay-offs such as eternal life and hell to threaten you. Its not about what you get but what you give, for in giving and for-giving, you will receive the greatest gift yourself. If you can master forgiveness these irritations will not bring you down.

Sure, an atheist can use sublime Christian principles as guides for their lives. They do it all the time. One difference between an atheist and a Christian is that atheists do not give credit for all they have that is good to their creator, who gave it to them. Whereas Christians do.

Why should atheists/christians hate anything? You know that's coming from your human nature of being dogmatic, greedy, and the sense of you being right! The problem with us humans is that we isolate our ideas from each other in a way,but than again we want to convert people to our ideals in order to be humanitarian. Like everything else, we are diverse and will always fight with eachother for what we believe is right. We humans are greedy for believing we know everything and have an answer for everything. We even justify our superiority through the creator having our image. We believe we are it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is generally the rule to be against the religion not the individual, though there are a lot of particularly hateful individuals who happen to also be Christian, it doesn't do to forget they are human and have a problem...so we try to be understanding...(by we I really mean me, I don't speak for all atheists.)

I'm far more concerned with the conservative christian right preaching hatred for whole groups of Americans blaming them like the Nazis blamed the Jews for everything that goes wrong in this country. Some of these so called men of god, are calling for the extermination of the whole LGBT community.
