I'm British and the books are the same as in America....Although when you think it about it America didn't EXACTLY win,Britain was busy with the rest of Europe and Britain said yes to America becoming a nation so Britain basically made America. If the British sent more soldiers over America wouldn't of won because British troops were and still are the best(FACT).America took on only a few British soldiers and now America say that beat the strongest nation in the world at the time,if the war went on America wouldn't be as horrible today.
But history books do say that Britain beat America in 1812 or Canada would be under American rule because America wanted an empire so they tried to take on Britain but lost.

We don't learn about it. Although, interestingly, when the British attacked and burnt Washington DC in the War of 1812 the only casualties the British suffered were from heatstroke - running after the retreating American troops. Probably the same way that it was portrayed when it first started. The Americans using illegal and immoral tactics refused to stand in front of the British and let both sides shoot at each other. Instead the Americans hid behind trees and rocks while the British were parading down the road from Concord back to Lexington. While they were hidden the American sharpshooters were picking off the British troops with their long rifles. Every European knew that you didn't fight a war that way but the Americans did it anyway.

Well, the one thing that is known is that it is taught WRONG in the US. We are taught that it was all about religious intolerance and being stepped all over by the King. In fact, the "Boston Tea Party" was an example of Americans participating in terrorism, as was most of the fighting in the war, which the Americans were not trained for (in the correct, disciplined manner of the West, that is.) Americans fought like guerillas, and pretty much terrorized the British troops. We were also taught that the puritans were escaping from persecution - in fact, they pretty much came over here and persecuted each other. Cromwell was a puritan........

Barely even discussed. Hell, ask a Londoner High School student where the Nelson statue is and they will think you are talking about Nelson Mandela.
