This is one I make and take to family gatherings and it doesn't last long.
Layer refired beans, then I take taco seasoning and mix it with sour cream, layer than on top of the refried beans. From there you can add (or subtract what you don't want) taco meat, shredded cheese, diced tomato or salsa, diced yellow peppers, diced white or green onion, diced mild pepper rings, and black olives. I normally serve it in an 8x8 casserole dish and serve with tortilla chips...YUM!

Layered Taco Dip

1 can refried beans
8 oz. cream cheese
8 oz. salsa -- as hot as you like
8 oz. cheddar, shredded
sliced black olives - about 1/2 cup
chopped sweet onion - about 1/2 cup, less if onion isn't very sweet
chopped green pepper - about 1/3 cup
shredded iceberg lettuce - about 1/2 cup (optional)
diced fresh tomatoes (don't peel, but remove seeds and squeeze as much juice from tomatoes)

Spread beans in bottom of 9" pie plate. Soften cream cheese and spread carefully over beans. Top with salsa and then cheddar. Bake in preheated 350 oven for about 20 min., until cheese is bubbly. Top with olives, onion, green pepper, optional lettuce and tomatoes and chill

What I do to make refried bean is: decrease small slices of onion now to not a lot because you do not want your refried beans to flavor too very like onions. warmth up a frying pan first before including oil at the same time as frying pan is warmth upload the oil and upload the onions. flow the onion round with the oil with a spatula. at the same time as onions get a brownish coloration upload the quantity of beans into your frying pan then use a spatula (the kind that you take advantage of at the same time as smashing potatoes) There you've it refried beans. Opitonal: you are able to shread cheese and upload it into your refried beans for a extra constructive flavor.

This bean dip is a staple at Fresco — we use it instead of butter with our homemade breads. It will last 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator.
1/2 pound uncooked cannellini beans
1 cup extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
Salt

1. Soak the beans in salted water overnight.
2. Rinse and add new water to cover. In a 2-quart pot, boil the beans over high heat until tender, or 20 to 25 minutes. Drain the beans and mash them with the olive oil until you achieve a creamy texture.

3. Mix in the garlic and sage. Season with salt to taste. Serve cold.

Makes 6 servings.
