We just bought a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. After all the extras we've added, the MSRP value came up to be $43,090. After all the rebates, discounts and negotiation, we ended up with a grand total price of $37,933. Is this a good deal or not?

I should add that we got the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 with the 28J package (the highest package). The only additional options we added are engine block heater, sunroof, radio (with cd changer, MP3 capability, DVD based GPS Navigation System), and the UConnect Hands Free Communication System.

We are not getting the Rear Seat Video System (DVD system) from them so the actual price is $36,834 not the 37,933.

The only thing I don't like about this is the mpg of 14/19 (I expected it for a 4x4 V8). It does have the Multi Displacement System that shifts the cylinders from 8 to 4 cylinders when needed to save fuel. Other than this, I love the rest of the features. The exterior and interior features, spacious, entertainment systems, safety and security, etc. We chose it mainly because of its family friendly features. We are planning on having a big family (4 kids at the most, actually have one on the way). And I'm sure we are going to do a lot of travelling and outdoor activities so the towing/hauling capability is a must.

Wow. Just wow. You just paid 40g's for a Durango. I'd say NOT a good deal.

First of all, if you are happy, you got a good deal. Secondly, over 4g's off on a vehicle that just launched is very good.

Don't pay any attention to the guy who said you could've gotten an rx 350. Of course you could buy that egg for that money, look at it, it's ugly, it can't tow, and it has no room.

You made a good choice, that engine is one of the best engines developed in a long time.

Hard to tell, since all the extras sound like dealer accessories which are usually overpriced ripoff to begin with. I mean they charge $500 for window etching, which you can do it yourself for $20. $799 for LoJack when it only cost them $299. $100 alarm for $600. Never buy dealer accessories unless you have to.

Checking Carmax and Carsdirect, $4100 discount off MSRP (excluding dealer options) seems to be the norm right now.

But for $37.9K, you could've got a 2007 Lexus RX350 with navigation, back-up camera, HID, leather, sunroof, power rear door, front/rear curtain airbags, reliability, resale value.....

Btw, the RX350 gets 25mpg on the highway.... even though it has 270hp.

Sounds like you got a relatively good deal. Hard to really say for sure. Good choice though, they are nice vehicles. I love Chryslers.

You already bought it, so just enjoy it don’t worry about what all the import lovers have to say. I find it amazing how many people on this site love to run down the vehicles that drive the North American economy.

Yeah, why would anyone pay that much for a Durango??????

Chryslers are such CRAP. Expect tons of problems and recalls during your ownership, then try and sell it when it'll be worth absolutely nothing.

I love the RX350. My sister got one and lets me borrow hers. Sweet car. She tows a boat all the time without a problem. I don't know why anyone would need over 300HP and tow over 8000 pounds. Unless you're towing an RV.
