I know he likes me. I don't want to hurt his feelings, but I just want to be friends. When do I need to let him know that? Now? Or just if he wants a third date? Or even later?

No tell him now, its rude to lead a guy on that likes you just say i think your really nice but i just think of you as a great friend so instead of a date lets just hang out. He may be offended dont get down on yourself he'll appreciate your honesty in the end. Good luck its tough!

Girls do that 2 me all the time since i'm a nice guy. Dont go out on a 2nd date, it'll make him think ur interested. Just tell him you'll "NEVER" be more than friends. He'll feel better after the hurt that he wasn't wasting his time and $ on some1 who played him

You need to tell him now. Go on a date but go dutch. If you don't tell him you are just leading him on. It will hurt him the longer you take as well.

Tell him upfront that you are not interested in a serious relationship with him but if he still wants to go out as freinds and can understand your boundry then go and have fun
