i don't completely understqand you question when you added the word "down" but i'll do my best.
Girls usually look for personality. sometimes girls like the tough-guys and sometimes the softies. Having a good sense of humor and tastes helps alot. Looks can help to but most of the time it doesn't matter the older people get.

goodluck my man.

Hmmm, 9th grade, first why are you on the internet at this time of the day, shouldn't you be in school? haha. Seriously, tell one of her friends that you like her, it will get back to her. If she likes you too, then you don't have to do anything, just ask her if she wants to have lunch with you, or if you can have her number.
When I was in 9th grade, I usually liked a guy that was really nice, or gave me compliments, like you look good today or, nice jeans. Good luck sweetie, but just remember, you have lots of time to find "the one'

In high school I had a couple of guy friends that I ended up falling for. One, I would go over to his house... and I would get to see a side of him that I knew no one else did. He was kind of a tough guy, but I saw how much he cared for his cat... and I saw simple things from his childhood that made me realize he had a softer side. He also helped me play this game he was really into (Diablo).. and he helped me beat it with cheat codes. I thought that was fun. Another guy would walk with me to the bus stop to keep me company, and they both expressed interest in the things that I said. I know one time I mentioned not getting a candy cane yet for the winter season - and my guy friend brought me a box to school the next day. Just be nice, be interested. Good luck!

My advice:
-be confident but not arrogant (this is intensely attractive, but very difficult balance to achieve)
-be friendly
-don't tease her like she's your little sister
-leave something cheesy but sweet at her desk/locker, like a flower, candy, or funny little toy that she might like
-let people know you think she is an awesome person
-ask her to dance
-compliment some little but specific thing about her, like her earrings, her new hairstyle, or the clever way she answered something in class

good luck!

Do you mean, "What have men done?" Well its just that girls are attracted to guys at your age. I'm in 10 grade, and one day. You'll like someone too! Maybe not now, but later.
