If we are talking about etiquette here, I would suggest derailing from your line of talk and listening intently to the person who interrupted you. If you are with others, they have all noticed that you have been interrupted, and that will be present during everything the other person says. What will also be noticed is that you are a very thoughful person by putting your thoughts on hold to listen intently to the other person.
Everybody has something to say about their own experiences and likes to communicate this, usually without prompting. The polite thing to do in ANY situation is to listen, unless asked a question.
When it is your turn to talk, ask a question of someone else instead of relating your life experiences with others. Have them expand on something they just said.
It may sound strange, but the truly advanced of us do very little speaking about ourselves, and a lot of questioning and learning from others.

Even though I get very agitated when this happens and think it extremely rude, I refuse to lower myself to that person's level. I remind myself that one rude person in the group is enough. I listen to what they have to say. If, after they've finished and the others present ask what else I wanted to say, I'll finish my thought. If they don't, then I know I should've shut up before I was interrupted and count myself lucky I didn't make a fool of myself.

It drives me crazy!! My mother-in-law is the absolute WORST at doing that, you can never finish the original thought or story because she interrupts and completely changes the subject every time anyone starts talking. I've seen her do it to complete strangers! It's so infuriating! I've gotten to the point where I will interrupt her and say, "Like I was saying...." I still don't think she has a clue that she does it, maybe she knows and she just doesn't care. It's awful, my husband even admits that she does it now and he has no idea how to get her to stop.

Keep my mouth shut till the person was done then restate my sentence with before so and so interupted me.....
On the inside I'd feel annoyed. I do try not to interupted people myself. If I feel like interupting I make my lips really tight so nothing comes out. When asked I explain to the speaker that I wanted to say something but didn't want to interupted that person.

i really hate it. but i keep my mouth shut. i know this one person who loves to interrupt and change the topic and i hate it. but i keep my cool cause i dont like to deal with the awkward situation later if i say anything out of anger. we live in the same dorm, so i need to keep my cool no matter how much i hate it...

It is rude and I have experienced this with someone often. I feel as though he is not listening to me at all. I think we need to speak up. Not in an angry manner. A gentle correction.
