Do you mean that a 12 year old kid got a DUI or you have a warrant out on you for a DUI from 12 years ago? Either way, take care of it.

Contact the city or state that is holding it and ask a hypothetical anonymous question. Ask "If I had a DUI 12 years ago and never settled it, would would the status be now?" They should be able to answer I would think.

It is hard to say. Is it causing you problems. You may open up a can of worms. All records are now computerized. If you get stopped they may find the record of it. You might as well think they will find it. As long as you have had a clean driving record since then I would consider seriously taking care of it. My son was stopped several years back and he had some unresolved tickets from when he was in the service. They suspended his license. I hope this helps.

what is the statute of limitation? I would take care of it, it's not something you want to run into later unexpected.
I can't see how a 12 year old dui could hold up in court.

Once you have been charged with a crime there is no statute of limitations on prosecution. And warrants do not expire. A 12 year old DWI will be really easy to settle, probably with a very nominal fine.

Need more info to provide a semi-helpful solution. I usually (always) think it's better to step up and face the music rather than run the rest of your life.
This is not legal advice - hire a lawyer.

Is your driver lic. suspended? Is a warrant out for your arrest? it will not get better, you must be driving with a suspended lic. If you get stopped it will not go good for you. If you get into an accident while suspended, you really know the answer.
