Well heres the deal, i feel like i need to find someone to love and that will love me back. Once I find someone that I like, I am normally head over heels. It can be overwhelming for the other person. Normally 6 weeks and they are out. I am not a trusting person, I would consider myself controlling. And I have been told that i have to many expectations. I want to improve myself, make changes so i will stop getting hurt and devoting my heart to someone where the relationship is going to fail. Any pointers or books to ready? I have considered counciling.

stop acting as if ur life depends upon this other persons involvement...ur driving ppl away from u. Have healthy self esteem first, be confident. U are fine on ur own. Acting too intertwined and needy makes normal ppl run. If ur not getting the desired effect change ur stratagy! I would leave u too if u acted that way

You need to slow yourself down and not dive in all at once. You jump in to quick and it scares people. I dont think counseling will help, its some problem you know you have, now you need to work on fixing it. Either that or find someone that wants someone like you, there is bound to be someone out there that will be looking for someone needy.

this "need" is not good...it needs to be a want/desire. You are only ready to date once you are happy with being single. counseling is a positive step in the right direction, believe me, I'm a therapist =)

Don't have high expectations and you'll never be disappointed.
