they always say things like how can you believe something you have no proof of well do you have absolute undeniable proof that there was a big explosion that created a planet and put life on the planet and gave all the planets inhabitants the necessary things it needs to survive such as air and water

(which is completly absurd when you think about it)

if theories come from evidence then how is it you constantly ignore all the scientific evidence pointing toward the existance of God

I agree with you!

Some ppl just refuse the idea of God to refuse it! Their theory is never any better but it is the rejection they have!

It is a pity actually.. However, sometimes I feel it may be also our fault.. If we, Christians, lived as real good Christians, others would have understood better what Christianity is!!

Does our acts proclaim the name of the Lord as it should be?!

There is absolutely no scientific proof whatso-ever to proof the existance of God or gods. What ever was written as to be the words of God was nothing else as the whishfull thinking of the author. This happened simply because humans used religion in order to try and change their own and other people's behaviour. The fact that people write about it, is no proof of existance of it at all/

How everything came about is a big mystery which we all would like to know. If u would like to call that Mystery God, u are probably entitled to do that. But then i would pop u the question of who created God and then we will be back at square 1 again. To say a god created it, is actually not an answer, it is avoiding the question.

Scientist normally record measurable phenomena honestly and then try and calculate possible explanations for it. As they measured that material in space is constantly moving apart, it seems logical that all material came from the point from where it is moving. If all material comes from the same centre, then an explosion (big bang) seems logical. What causes the the big bang is still uncertain. If u want to avoid the question, just say god caused it. EASY

Not all atheist think that the world was created by the BIG Bang theory. Being an Atheist means you dont believe in a God. Now that I have that out of the way, threories are a starting point they adapted over time as we find new information. Nobody is saying that these theories are the solid truth. theories are just what the science community thinks is what happend, we dont actually know what dinosaurs looked like all the pictures with there skin on that we have are just theories too. But you religious people are out there saying that the bible is the truth and this is what happend and everyone else is wrong. What I find ironic is that the bible beaters who are against science are out there trying to find proof with science that the bible is real.

I think one has to seriously take into account the nature of theory vs a belief. I am not here to discredit belief by any stretch and dont think that in most cases others should be either. However, in the past few years we have seen a more concerted effort to denigrate the understanding of theory into something that it is not. A theory is not some mere opinion that someone thought over coffee and said eh this might do. There is a lot of work, testing, work and testing some more that go into the creation of a theory. Furthermore theories have to stand up to testing and can be disproved, which means for theories that still do stand, they perhaps deserve a little more credibility. Still if one chooses not to believe in any theory about anything, either through a lack of knowledge of or because of disagreement with the concept, that is their own perrogative.

The bigger issue is why do we feel we have to try and bring down people who are not like us. On both sides of this issue people do far too much of this to the point that reasonable dialogue is much more difficult. No matter which way one chooses to believe, lets not force our ingroup standards on them and expect that they want to or should believe the way we do. It is hard enough to get by in this world at times without people railing against our ways of life.

You seem to think most people became atheists because we saw the big bang theory and thought that it was 100% fact and renounced our faith. I'm afraid for me at least this was not the case. I am an atheist because I think religion is insanely stupid in this day and age. The big bang really has nothing to do with my lack of belief in God.

Your idea about proof is flawed. We don't have absolute proof of the big bang, but there is indeed a lot of evidence. I would ask you to present to me, any real evidence of God. ANY.

And another thing. There is one key difference between our "beliefs." I don't base my life around my belief in the big bang. It really doesn't seem to be a big part of my day to day existence. You base your life around religion, yet you probably don't have any evidence to support it. So please please please don't try drag science down to the level of religion. It seems the only way you can give yourself peace of mind is to look at scientific theories in the dumbest possible way just so you can say "Look, that theory is as stupid as mine!!"

What is "all the scientific evidence pointing to the existence of god"? Can you list them point by point? And again, this is the definition of "theory" in this context: A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. This is the number one definition of the word theory. The one you mean...a guess...is number six.

Although I am no atheist, everything in the universe is made of atoms, which grouped together make molecules which together create chemicals, which become proteins, organelles, organs etc. These things have natural laws that make them work together or not, so living creatures live where the habitat is favourable. Air and water are simply chemicals made from combinations of atoms which is everywhere in the universe. All matter / energy (as matter is made of energy) is atoms.

So why do you think it's so weird that certain combinations of molecules working together can work in harmony with one another. It's happening all the time. Everything going on in your body, all the cycles of ecosystems work in harmony as chemical reactions under the laws of the universe, just as gravity being a natural law of the universe.

Science is the discovery of God, it lifts the veil on the microscopic level of what the universe is made of and how it works. Since God is everything, then science is discovering God.

I suppose it does seem absurd when you have such a narrow view of it and deny the facts that are pulled from the earth daily. I believe in treating people like you want to be treated. religion is the optiate of the masses and as much as it would make my life easier to just "believe" I cannot set aside the truth.
The earth is billions of years old. There are many unexplained issues that I dont understand. But one thig I do understand, your god is a cruel and unforgiving god who allows horrible atrocities to come forth daily and yet, I am expected to do good in his name in the hopes that I might go to some mythological happy place where there are mansions of gold and angels playing harps??
Thats just funny.

A) no scientific evidence prove there is a God. You can REPEAT a "miracle"
B) we believe in theories because we can repeat the observed. If you jump up, you come down. jump up again, you come down again. Hence proving gravity. You observed the up, and then the down. Now try doing that with your rib, see if you can get a woman out of it.

I am not an athiest. But, to discount science is ridiculus. Science asks to be questioned. It is all based on developing theory, testing theory and revising theory based on new facts. Religion is based on faith. Two different things and not at all in conflict for an open and inquistive mind and heart.

"Undeniable proof" is a ridiculous thing to ask for.

Evidence is a perfectly good thing to ask for. There's plenty for the scientific explanations we have, and none for the religious notions.

Your understanding of cosmology is painfully absent. You shouldn't make fun of things you don't understand: doing so reveals your poor moral character. Work on your arrogance problem, then think about coming back.
