it would be "acceptance religion" meaning that everyone is accepted no matter what they believe, and that no person shall attempt to push their beliefs upon another. Really, aslong as 1person believes in something wether it be Jesus God, Creator (aborigional), evolution,etc... it will always be.

I'd like to invent a religion based on the teachings of Jesus. I obviously wouldn't be inventing it, as such a religion existed more or less until about the third century.

Ideally the religion would only accept the first 3 gospels as being accurate reflections of Jesu's teachings, because the gospel of John is a bit too inconsistent with the other 3.

As Jesus' teachings are basically an extension of Judaism, the religion would have to embrace it's roots, and take on many of the trappings of Judaism. I suppose that it would also have to have the notion of an interventionist God, but make it clear that the way to God is through living a life that is pleasing to God. Hopefully this would prevent people having the idea that Jesusism (I acknowledge it would need a better name) is the only true faith. It would have to be presented as one of the many available paths.

Obviously the rest of the New Testament would have to go, as Paulism has little to do with the teachings of Jesus. Also I would omit from the gospels the bits that were added on, such as Jesus rising from the dead. Therefore the whole notion of redemption by faith and much of the rest of Paulism would be omitted. Essentially it would be an attempt to return to the Neo_Judaism established by Peter and the disciples.

Basically the key thing would be to have a religion based on the core principles of Jesus' teaching;
-Treat others as you'd want them to treat you
-Don't put on shows of religion
-Forgive people
-Don't judge others. Instead sort out your own messes.

I dare say other people would draw their own principles from the gospels, and maybe form their own denominations, but this would be fine, as you'd have a pretty hard job using the gospels to promote hatred, homophobia, judgementalism or puffed up pride.

A l l religions were inspired. None was manmade. It cannot be invented and put on the shelf for sale, or put in musium for show, A Religion is preached without monetary rewards by the Prophet of that religion. If 'invented' it would not be a religion.

I would want to meet my creator without being annihilated by the experience . This would be impossible so I need someone to take the rap for my guilt of disobedience to his perfect character of love .
But who on earth could do that? Maybe the creator in His goodness could help me out on that one , maybe send someone here to stand in my shoes . Trouble is who could be an acceptable victim in the creators eyes . Mmmm , sorry , I'm stuck on this one , I might have to have a look around the existing religions to see if one fits the bill.
I wonder if there is a book that might help ?

I'd invent something very much like the Baha'i religion. The Baha'i (pronounced "Buh-HIGH") religion takes what it considers to be "truths" from other religions and combines them together to make one religion. The Baha'i faith evolves as people and belief systems evolve.

Here's a website that lists LOTS of "alternative" religions and belief systems, with links to explanations about each.

THEOCRACY - where every individual "polishes up" their own individual facet., to tune themselves spiritually into the one Divine Source.. which I prefer to visualise as an ever expanding, brilliant diamond somewhere in the Universe.. Doesn't matter what name is given to the source...if we all respond to this Spirituality, it would cut through all the organised religions ( whilst respecting all of them!!) No-one would hand over responsibility for their spiritual development to any one else..no power-tripping, respect for everyone else's journey.. I see spiritual progress as like the double helix.. you may pass someone but spiral back to a similar position, just from another perspective!!! Love as motivation for every action.. INTENTION being paramount...Living in a non-violating way, walking in peace on our planet with all living things.

We all could, its been done throughout history , these Christianity and Muslim things are just the latest little fads, there will be lots more to come, how long have they been on the go, a couple of thousand years, just the blink of an eye in the scale of things!!
They do all have one thing in common through the ages , they were all designed to control folk!
So I'm not going to bother, I would only have a lot of folk like myself giving me a lot of hassle, I much prefer dishing it out!!.

My religion would probably end up like Confucious's; passed on as words of wisdom by anyone and everyone without any real fuss as to their origin.

Mind you, it probably would be an offshoot of Hinduism. I find theirs to be the most appropriate form of theology, and mine is just a personal adaptation with some new mythology and a modern-day spin on its lessons with regards to attitude to others.
